Guest RafiPZ Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 (edited) Well just like the title says, my 8GB of storage is completely gone and is not even listed within the device or when connected to the PC. I flashed with Wozzer's WM 6.5 v4, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. How do I fix it? Edited June 9, 2009 by RafiPZ
Guest gdwrnch29 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 Well just like the title says, my 8GB of storage is completely gone and is not even listed within the device or when connected to the PC. I flashed with Wozzer's WM 6.5 v4, I don't know if that has anything to do with it. How do I fix it? This happened to me w/ my first i910 (now on my third, first replaced cause of that same prob, second b/c of cracked lcd). I believe it actually showed it there, only as "dismounted". It happened to me after a hard reset, no idea why. I will never forget arguing w/ 3 different reps + the manager of the Verizon store, they told me there was no 8gb storage built in, only the 8gb micro sd card that was in there (that I told them was mine from my old LG dare, and they said no, that's what came with your Omnia). Fortunately, before I smacked the piss out of all three of them w/ my f'd up phone, a KNOWLEDGEABLE rep came from the shadows and said "Yeah, he's right, it's gone, no way to get it back, get him a new phone". I told the other 3 to learn more about what the hell they are selling, and wondered how many clueless customers they had sent away with the same BS excuse. Sorry, I didn't have an answer, just brought up that old repressed memory and thought I would share. Hopefully, someone may have a fix that you (and the rest of us in the future) can use.

It's a pretty common problem for the i910 if you google it you'll see it's happened to a lot of people. Call Verizon and they will send you a new phone. Make sure you brick it before you send it back to them so they don't see you've flashed. If they find out you've flashed they'll void your warranty and possibly your contract.

Ok, i posted this in another thread but what you need to do is go to start -> settings -> connections -> USB Connection Mode and change it from Activesync to MASS STORAGE. when you connect it to your computer, you'll be able to format the built in storage, and then you should be able to see it.
Guest Chris H11 Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 I had this problem, but all I had to do to fix it was soft reset.

Whoa, I think i'm actually getting closer to fixing this. When I connect it it does recognize the drive and asks me to format it. Which options did you use? It says unknown capacity and you probably used ntfs to format it right? or could it be fat32. Thank you for the responses! edit: i've tried all the choices, it immediately tells me that windows could not format the drive and sometimes it doesnt come with the error message but just hangs there. Any other ideas? Edited May 31, 2009 by RafiPZ

Any other ideas? I cant remember exactly what options i used. I just remember that it's what i did. it should be FAT, make sure you don't change cluster sizes or anything. if you call into verizon, they can get samsung on the phone, and they can tell you how to do this, as thats how i found out in the first place. it'll take about 20 min to get through to someone, but it's a lot easier than redoing your whole phone.
Guest nate.mcbride Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Had this happen twice so far... its fairly easy to fix, as someone before said, make it visible and format it. Also, sometimes simply doing another hard reset will fix it too.
Guest RafiPZ Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 I've finally fixed it. I went into Disk Management and noticed that the computer still recognized the drive, around 7 gigs but unformatted (it was RAW). For some reason Wozzers Windows mobile 6.5 v0.5 wouldn't let me connect to the PC but when I temporarily went back to v0.4 I was able to get the computer to recognize the drive. I then formatted using HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool because Windows couldn't format the RAW drive.
