Can't upgrade to any Custom ROM

I purchased a Samsung Omnia today, in anticipation that I would be able to use custom roms to my heart's content. I followed shokka's guide on updating via VMWare Workstation and XP and everything was fine.

The modem driver worked, the phone was sensed by the VM and i got up to the custom updater without issues. I use EXEcutor to expand the custom rom (shokka's M2d 6.5 ROM) and I run the updater. Reset the phone, updator senses it, click start process.

Good, good then BAM.

"Download Eboot DL_MSG_READ_ERROR Download failed!!"

OMFG WTF.

So I try a different ROM. I try the 3 in 1 6.5 ROM, a superlite 6.1 ROM and a lite 6.5 ROM all with the same result:

"Download Eboot DL_MSG_READ_ERROR Download failed!!"

I know I'm not doing anything wrong!

I have the modem drivers installed, ActiveSync 4.5 installed and XP 32bit SP3 in the VM.

No other USB controllers are plugged in, WiFI and BT are off, AV is also turned off.....

My phone is definately an i900 not an i910 (the version tab says so) and im definitely updating to an i900 custom ROM.

Can anybody please help me?
