Guest damoram Posted June 2, 2009 Report Posted June 2, 2009 Hi everyone, I recently tried to update the memory on my new Advent 4213 net book to 2Gb without success, the unit would not boot up at all with the new memory in (the memory worked fine in another laptop. I thought meybe the BIOS was the problem (don't ask why) so I flashed the BIOS with the ECS G10IL generic BIOS, or tried to. The update failed mid-way through, the machine froze for a few seconds then switched itself off. It will not now boot <_< . When I switch it on, the hard disk light goes on briefly, then stays off. If I plug in a USB stick it accesses the stick for a while at start up. I read somewhere that the BIOS will be trying to re-write itself, looking for a .ROM image file on one of the drives, but the display does not work, therefore you need to know what keys to press to activate the BIOS recovery. I have a BIOS .ROM image file on a USB stick plugged into the machine but no joy yet. Any ideas, please?
Guest Paul Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I've had a snoop round and it seems like you're pretty knackered i'm afraid... :-( Warranty return time! P
