Are there aftermarket of free GPS Software for GPS phones?

Hi,

I would like get a temporary replacement for my HTC Dash. I'm thinking about a Samsung Blackjack II that has GPS. However, I don't want to use the GPS service subscription from ATT. So I found some references that the GPS can be unlocked. People are using GPSTest. However, my understanding is that GPSTest is just that, no maps.

Are there any aftermarket GPS maps that can be loaded into the phone not using data minutes (therefore loaded/updated with ActivSync or so)? Any free solutions?
