Guest hypergig Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 So yesterday I installed the uber rom.. (http://www.modaco.com/content/i910-specific-omnia-rom-discussion/286526/new-rom-for-omnia-i910/) ... and all is well accept for freaking google maps finding satellites 1.2% of the time (but i hear that's how it works) but the problem I had was when I active synced it seems like my Omnia took on the proxy setting of my computer (or something). I don't use "Work Connection" at all and have everything pointed to "ISP connecting" but I still failed to connect to the web with any app, weather bug, browser... anything. After and hour of total frustration I just did a hard reset and reconfigured everything. I figure it would take me less time to do that than figure out what I broke. The reason I think it was related to the proxy settings was because active sync on the phone for email gave me a "can't connect to mail server because or your proxy settings." Now i would like to active sync to install some software (GPS Test) but I'm afraid I'm going to break it again and have to hard reset. Anyone know what happen before? Thanks!
Guest Uribam Posted June 3, 2009 Report Posted June 3, 2009 I sorta had a similar problem. The GPS thing with CC20 is fine actually. You have to let it sit there for a loooooooonnnnnnnnnngggggggg time at first before you get a lock on a gps signal. Just leave it there and go do something that takes 10+ minutes and come back, you should have a lock by then. As far as your internet I'm going to break this down to two parts as you're not being specific as to which internet (phone or computer) you're having trouble with. No internet on the phone while connected to computer w/ activesync: There's actually an activesync setting for this. Either right click the icon in the system tray on the computer and select connection settings or open the window and click file then connection settings. Then check the box that says "allow wireless connection on device while connected to the desktop". That should solve that if that's the problem. Now here's the no internet on computer part (which is why I felt very bad for verizon): For a long time I was wondering why my internet was so slow. Pages took forever to load and ones with lots of images wouldn't load all the images for some reason. I contributed that to Time Warner being horrible. One night I was browsing zedge and happened to glance over at my phone and noticed the arrows in the phone's system tray moving nonstop. Turns out my computer turned off my wifi and decided to use the omnia as a modem. For a little more than a month the Omnia was my internet connection haha. I'm not sure where the setting for this is in CC20 but there is one. In the 6.5 rom it's in internet sharing (using wozzer's) in the start menu. Just turn off bluetooth then set the top setting to Bluetooth PAN. It may be different with CC20 but with a bit of looking around I'm sure you'll find it. Good luck! Bam
