Hi all,

I am hoping someone will be able to help me I have a huge problem with my works PDA, it is a t mobile MDA Vario 111, I am in serious trouble at work and will, more than likely, lose my job over this. I have been accused of turning off the GPRS system by using a registry hack or registry editor. Can anyone explain to me what this is and how it could happen to my PDA. I am probably one of the least technially minded people you will ever come across on this site although with your help i hope to change this. So if anyone has any ideas please try to put them in easy terms an old man like me will understand. I would be extremly gratefull for any imput anyone might have.

Thank you in advance for your assistance. I have a disciplinary meeting on monday and would like to arm myself with any information that would work in my defence.

Best regards

Craig

Do you have a registry editor on your phone?

You could just use nodata from this forum or just edit the APN if you wanted to stop data being used.

You can' 'accidentally' edit the registry.

If you haven't done it then why does your company think you have? And more to the point why do they think you have done it deliberately?

Nodata changes a flag in the registry from 'Enabled' to 'Disabled' but I'm not sure which one!

Hope someone can be of more help and good luck on Monday!

Thanks Confusion, I dont want to do anything to the PDA my company say i have because they cant track me because the PDA is not emitting a signal and T mobile are saying it could not be done without a registry hack or a registry editor, I would'nt know what a registry was if it stopped me in the street and slapped me, let alone how to hack it or use the editor. I know they need to prove it but i really need to prove i have'nt just for my own piece of mind as much as anything. Thanks for your help any info is better than no info. And thanks for your good luck wishes.

There are many reasons why it might not work but it's up to them to prove you have deliberatly disabled it - highly unlikely. They really should get their facts straight. Make sure you take a witness then consult a solicitor - you would probably have a good case against your employer.

I have been called many things , but not many as apt as Confusion <_<

Thanks Confucious, sorry about the Confusion its all TOO confusing for me. If a 3rd party software had been installed as someone else suggested would this be something like the NODATA you suggested and if so why would'nt they be able to trace and sorce this back to the source?? Would'nt there be a path? I have 3 young children who love to play bubble breaker on the PDA is this something that could have been done by them just pressing the wrong buttons. Please dont feel i'm pressing you for answers but like i said any info is better than none. Thanks again
