Guest HellboyMC Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 It's very stupid that the middle is less responsive, you need to push like hell (at least i have to) so you actually press something and it's even more inaccurate as the rest of the screen while all around the middle responds quite good and is quite accurate, but still, not totally. Is there any reason why samsung made such a touch screen that can't be aligned in the middle the same as on the edges? When i go under align screen, i have to press very hard in the middle, so i can move on to edges, while edges don't need much pressure in order to move on to the next edge...
Guest AngusATAT Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I don't have this issue. Maybe it's a defect on your Omnia?
Guest pallen Posted June 4, 2009 Report Posted June 4, 2009 I have recently had my omnia replaced under warranty because and area of the screen at the top right stopped responding. I would contact your provider or whoever you bought it from.

Guest charles2995 Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 how coincidental that i stumbled on this post... i have a samsung omnia and it has THE WORST touchscreen i have ever used. i have to apply so much pressure that i have freakin blisters on my thumb. in fact, im taking it to verizon tomorrow to hopefully get a replacement because no matter how many different firmwares i have tried on it (wm 6.5- you can see wozzer's thread on it) the sensitivity still sucks. honestly, i would reccomend doing the same. my friend has this phone and its sensitivity is just as good as the vu or the xenon, which use the same 4-wire resistive technology
Guest Tim-H Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 If you look at the pinned/sticky section before the main thread list there is a big topic on replacing the touch panel, so if verizon doesnt do anything about it that is your best option. It's pretty cheap to buy a new screen, and just takes a little patience to swap it out. People are saying the sensitivity is really nice.
Guest HellboyMC Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Is there as possibility that it's caused by a custom ROM?
Guest Tim-H Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 Is there as possibility that it's caused by a custom ROM? Not likely. The software has less to do with the sensitivity than people seem to think. The only thing you can do is try this, and if that doesnt fix it for you, i would replace the touch panel.

If you just got your omnia then take it back and let them know its awful and doesnt work correctly and you'll get a new one with the new digitizer. Failing that use the above mentioned thread and replace the digitizer yourself.. i did and I know have iphone like sensitivity (obviously without multi touch) and its like having a new phone. go for it .. you wont look back. I had the same issue on my device. Contact your provider and ask for a new touchscreen. Its not a firmware specific problem nor can any software help you. Its just a bad touchscreen and only an exchange will help. My new one is really really sensitive, better than the one from the Touch HD for example.

Well i still have warranty on my phone, i also noticed a bright spot near the middle, which is only seen on pure dark, but won't they replace me the same shitty bad responsive touch screen if i make them do it? Cause i doubt they have new touch panels where i live since they hardly have any stuff for omnia at only place where i can get my omnia repaired.

If the only problem is the touchscreen, you can have a new digitizer that can be bought on eBay and replace it on your own. They say it's better than the ones you get on stock.

Oh and if i take my phone to repairs, should i upgrade it again with an official ROM, so they don't make my warranty invalid? Edited June 6, 2009 by HellboyMC

I think somewhere in this forum talks about increasing the sensitivity of the screen by registry, I am just not sure how to do it. I have problems with the lower middle part of my screen, it's harder to press. I don't know if the screen is broken or something.

If it is just one part of your screen that is less responsive, this isn't going to solve your problem, but might help you live with it until you can replace the screen.
