Guest Anusha Dharmasena Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I flashed to i900DXID1_sc and it hang few times (at different %s...even at 95%) while flashing. Somehow I managed to *complete* a flash. It reset after the flash automatically as it should. But now the phone would hang at the samsung logo thingy. One thing I noticed was that I when the flashing is under way, the green progressbar IN THE PHONE would hang after one or two notches. But the progress bar IN THE UPDATER would progress. When this happens (progress bar stops in the phone), there is a delay in progressing to the next % in the updater. Any thoughts on what could be the problem? And more importantly, how to fix it <_< I'm gonna charge the phone few hours before retrying. Will tell what happens.
Guest Bulldogs Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 (edited) Not sure myself, but I'd suggest plugging the data cable directly into the USB ports on the back of your com (not a USB Hub), the download another ROM and try flashing with that. From what I understand of it, when it hangs on the startup screen it usually means the ROM is damaged and flashing to a different ROM should hopefully fix it. If that doesn't work, you can always send it to Samsung. If it's under warranty just say "my phone just stopped working", if it's not they'll still fix it for a price. One other thing to note. I'm sure you're not attempting it under Vista, but just in case, try to do it under XP, and if the flashing fails again then you may want to uninstall the Samsung Modem driver then download the driver again and reinstall it. EDIT : One thing I forgot to mention. Before you flash again, try manually hard resetting the phone then check what happens after reboot. Edited June 5, 2009 by Bulldogs
Guest Anusha Dharmasena Posted June 5, 2009 Report Posted June 5, 2009 I think it's a problem with the cable. See, this is not the original Omnia cable nor is a brand new phone. I got it from someone else and it's not under warranty. I'll try to find an OEM cable tomorrow. There is another guy who has the original cable but he didn't bring the cable to work today <_< I used his cable the first time to unlock and update this Vodafone i900V to DZIA5. That cable worked right out of the box with no hiccups. The cable I have fails in active sync(XP)/wmdc (Vista) every now and then :/ I dunno why...maybe the phone is sending a signal pattern and the signal gets attenuated because of the crapiness index of the cable >_> BTW, I tried in XP. I even installed a copy of XP at home, but couldn't even get windows to recognize the phone!! It worked much better at work. I think the mismatch in progressbars is that maybe the flasher is thinking that the data is written to the ROM but actually not happening.
Guest Anusha Dharmasena Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 It was the cable indeed. Bought an Omnia OEM cable and it worked with no prob. There was no issue with the progress bars. Just worked in the first go <_<
