Guest Turborepu Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 so i was drivin thru Az, then I decided to call an old friend to see if we could meet up for coffee in the morning. my friend says sure, 8am ill pick you up. Cool... The alarm wails at 7:30, so i get up a get ready. 8am still no call... 8:15, nothing yet. So i call wondering what the delay is, my friend says, "i just got up, i'll be there around 8..... WTF? my "SMART"phone lied! so i fiddle with the time settings. auto time set and dst is on. but az doesnt do dst.. the phone just shows mtn time. i get it to be accurate on az time finally.. but then i notice pacific time shows as 1hr earlier.. wtf! is there a way to make it accurate in az without screwing the other timezones?
Guest Bulldogs Posted June 6, 2009 Report Posted June 6, 2009 You think that's bad, every time I connect to GPS with auto-time set on it switches to London time... I'm in Australia But I just gave up eventually and turned it off.
Guest krelvinaz Posted June 7, 2009 Report Posted June 7, 2009 Arizona is not in the Mountain Timezone. It is in the Arizona timezone which is not the same, or at least not the same part of the year. This is because Arizona or at least most of Arizona does not do Daylight Saving Time (DST). Arizona is always 7 hours behind GMT. When DST is on for the rest of the country, Arizona time would be similar to Pacific (which moves to GMT-7). When DST if off for the rest of the country, Arizona would be similar to Mountain (which moves to GMT-7 as well) There is a minor exception.... that would be in the upper left corner of the State, which is Navajo country, and they do follow DST. We don't change our clocks twice a year like the rest of the country. Most devices (including the WM) have a setting for Arizona called GMT-7 Arizona which is what time difference from GMT Arizona is always on.
Guest Turborepu Posted June 12, 2009 Report Posted June 12, 2009 ok so what option do i tick/untick so my phone keeps accurate time? maybe since dst is on it refuses to go into az -7. i can test this when i drive through again in a few days.
