Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 OK you manufacturers out there that make cell phone adapter cables. We Omnia users have gone far too long without an all purpose adapter cable. Why has nobody made a cable for the Omnia series phones that has a combo audio output and charger option at the same time? We need to plug our phones into power and listento music or to operate our phones in GPS mode and play music as an MP3 player, etc. in our cars on long trips. What would be wrong with a really nice docking station that allows the Omnia to stand up (like some do) and plug into power or USB AND have an audio output on the cradle. I am betting with the number of us using the 900 and 910 models out there as MP3 players we would jump to buy cradles that would both charge, allow USB connection and play music through our stereo systems. After all, the iPod has a ton of connection possibilities. We love our multi purpose phones. Consider it. Let us know when you come up with something. Sean
Guest Bulldogs Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) There is a combo audio/charger/etc adapter out there, but it's extremely hard to find, and the one company that makes it are apparently not very bright. From what I hear, half the ones they send out are s20 pin while the other half are m20 pin, so it's a gambit if you get the right one. Other than that, http://shop.brando.com.hk/ sells a TV out cable that you can plug a power cable into the side of. Edited June 8, 2009 by Bulldogs
Guest Bulldogs Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 Update : just realised they now sell a audio/power adapter http://shop.brando.com.hk/samsung-omnia-i9...5c0917d011.html
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 The i910 Omnia on Verizon comes with a samsung adapter that allows 2 other s20 connections to plug in at once. one side is for data cable or power cable, other side works with headphone cable and tv out cable. So the product is out there, and official from sammy.
Guest Rooster Misfit Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) if you got your phone threw verizon you should have gotten one... if you didnt go to verizon and tell them.... i use mine in my car to play music threw my stereo and charge it at the same time look here http://www.modaco.com/content-page/271740/...0/#entry1017761 Edited June 8, 2009 by Rooster Misfit

The one Bulldogs linked to is close, but the stock charger wont work with it, only a mini usb.

Guest DeepBlueEditor Posted June 8, 2009 Report Posted June 8, 2009 (edited) oh... well either way it would work how he wants it none the less Yep, sorry guys I should have mentioned the stock one and that's all nice and functional till some dips**t stole if out of my Jeep thinking it was part of the GPS system I didn't have in there at the time (dorks). So anyway, it looks like a huge octopus with the car charger plugged into that little box, then the 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter followed by the 3.5mm cable to the radio... you get the idea. What the hell is wrong with making a single simple streamlined cable that looks like the A/V (aka TV Out) cable with a power plug and audio out. Simple, sleek, functional and I could put the phone on the dash and not look like some Frankenstein thing too. Not really impressive to your buddies when you need 27 different adapters and cables and their showing you their new iPhone doc. Which was the other one. I have a lovely functional cradle here with USB and power for charging and the extra battery charging area. Why didn't they put audio out on here? I mean come on folks. So that's the idea but I appreciate the find of the little brick with the 3.5mm connection point. That's a start at least. Edited June 8, 2009 by DeepBlueEditor
Guest kav Posted June 11, 2009 Report Posted June 11, 2009 (edited) @DeepBlueEditor i dont think that manufacturers of accessories for omnia actually come to modaco to read our forums,,, LOL so i dont understand why ur post is addressed like, quoting: " OK you manufacturers out there that make cell phone adapter cables. We Omnia users ..." :D ;) Did u seriously think that writing like this on a forum will actually make manufacturers design new accessories for a fone that is over a year old now? and that in a couple of weeks u would see the products u were dreaming of being manufactured?? i mean,, seriously???in what world are u living in dude? anyways,, if manufacturers are not making it, then just look over the internet,, there are already some other online retailers selling accessories for the omnia that even samsung didnt make for the omnia. most of them made in china or made in thailand, but hey, even samsung original fones come from these countries, and these accessories are sold quite cheap.. and besides , who really cares where it comes from as long as it works properly. and please dont come shouting "OK you manufacturers out there ..." because this is getting old and funny and save urself the embarassment. :D no offence meant. No offense taken. Doesn't matter as no, I didn't realy think they would be here but you don't know for sure they aren't watching these types of forums. Perhaps Samsung and other manufacturers themselves keep track of the things here, and - One, it is a way to get folks to look at the thread that may know of something and - Two, it is actually possible they will continue to use the same connector on other future phones so the thought of making an advanced cable that does these simple things is not out of the question. Last, as a member of the forums I would think I can pretty much ask any questions phrased any way I want so thanks for the well meaning advice but as they always say, free advice is worth the price. Not embarassed a bit.
