Guest snake8b Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Is this normal. Using Garmin Mobile XT I continually have a good signal driving down the road then the "searching for sattelites" apears followed by "searching for GPS device". Sometimes it's so bad, the whole trip is spent searching for GPS device. Sometimes it will only happen once. It usually takes at least a couple minutes to find the device, then 10 seconds to find satellites again. The same thing happens in IGO8, however it seems to find the gps receiver a little quicker. I tried gpsgate, however, it seemed that when Garmin could not find the GPS device, neither could gpsgate. Is this a common issue, or do I have a defective gps device? Thanks for any help.
Guest jenben Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 Mate I am not sure what ya problem is but I use Garmin gps can get a fix within 2 to 4 minutes and stays on. I used it in Melbourne, Australia just recently and it worked a charm got me where I needed to go. Sorry I cant help you any more but just wanted to state that they do work fine! Cheers Brendan
Guest tensor123 Posted June 10, 2009 Report Posted June 10, 2009 I had the same problem. I reinstalled Garmin, changed baud speed rate, but nothing helped. I accidentally found the solution. The issue was, that the power settings in WM registry were messed up. Try to go to 'Power settings', and change values under 'On Battery Power' - just disable them or change 'turn off device', (don't forget to disable 'Power Savings Mode'). Soft reset the phone, then recheck 'On battery power' values (turn on device after..., backlight...). It worked for me.

I should note that I use GPS with the phone plugged in. Also, how do you manually set the baud rate in Garmin? Edited June 10, 2009 by snake8b
