Morning,

Last night I tried to charge my omnia, only to find that the charger connecter didn't fit the omnia properly anymore. It barely makes a connection, doesn't fit snugly and falls. I tried the USB cable to see if it's my charger or the handset and sadly the same thing happened.

I can't quite tell what's wrong. There doesn't seem to be any dirt in the socket on the handset. I think the flat row of pins in the middle of the socket may be damaged on one side, but without another phone to compare with I can't be sure.

As my phone's had a rom update or 10, as well as a new screen (without the vodafone branding that it came with) I'm not fancying my chances of getting a repair under warranty. Is there anywhere that I can order the spare part to replace the socket on the handset, or is this a more terminal (no pun intended) issue?

I kinda have the same problem, my phone charges correctly (by the normal poweradapter) but when I connect it to a datacable it doesn't show a new harddisk on XP (I tried 2 datacables and 3 xp pc's). So no matter what I select in the USB connnection mode (active sync/my storage/storage card) this 3 options don't work... Inside the phone itself I've got all the memory visible/intact...

I'm on the latest WiMo 6.5 ROM from sector but since it doesn't 'see' the datacable I can't also revert to the 'manufactor' rom so I can't send it in for a repair cz of the warranty... but since I see your message maybe it's somehow still a software issue?!? which OS/ROM do you have exactly? (I've got WM6.5 build 21806 which is based on DXID1)

*and yes I hard resetted already same problem.

Mine's 100% hardware as the charger and data cable connectors no longer physically fit correctly in the phone's 20pin socket.

Mine is unfortunately a H/W issue aswell, it's something with the connector pins insde the socket for the datacable cz when I push and hold the datacable a bit diagonal it makes a connection but I don't need to do this with the normal power adapter. But now I reverted back to the original latest samsung rom (DXIA5) and still thinking about sending it in for a repair or replacement cz it will probably break soon if I keep 'bending' it into the socket itself.

This is exactly what is happening with me as well, power, stereo headset and USB all the same, is there a way or only sending it for a repair in the service center?

Mine is now fixed.

It turned out there was some black plastic inside the connector, stuck to the far back wall. It looks like some plastic from the charger's connector has melted, then stuck to the inside wall of the phone's socket. I've removed it with a stanley knife and now the connecters fit correctly.
