Did you make your ext2 partition in Ubuntu with GParted?

wounter88 try this

in ubuntu gparted

delete all partitions from microSD

apply

make 1 primary part. (all space, format ext2)

unmount (do not unplug)

in terminal type sync

unmount (if it mounts itself)

unplug usb

plug in usb

in terminal type "sudo chown youraccount /media/disk"

start file manager

copy root*.tar.bz2 from rar you got from here to /media/disk

in terminal go to /media/disk

in terminal type tar-xf root*.tar.bz2

wait to extract

unmount

unplug

try to run

this worked for me

Ok i contacted some people on the irc channel from andromnia and my problem is that i use the internal storage card from 8 GB to make my partitions :D

so i have to search my microSD card!

I had the same problem, you need to enter some commands in the Terminal:

sudo chown -R username path

chmod 775 path

Username will be 'ubuntu' en the path is the path of your sdcard, probably something like /media/disk.

i think that it will be easier for dev team after I7500 premiere,

And are the things that the guys at XDA made for the HTC phones usefull? I believe they have made a lot of progress as well.

I also had this problem, but used the command

sudo chmod 777 /media/name of your SD, in my case 'disk'

At first it didn't seem to make a difference, but after entering the command a second time it decided to work.

Good work guys. Can you modify the first page to reflect how far the project has gotten (I.E what is working what isnt)?

Thanks, keep up the great work!

I have ext2 partition on my sd card and when i try to run android, it says

"no filesystem could mount root, tried ext3 ext2 vfav msdos

kernel panic- not syncing UFS unable to mount root fs on unknown-block 179,1"

i have all files wherethey need to be. What name your ext2partition have?

ok thats nothing that's been mentioned before, tried running it again, after reformatting card and copying the files again onto it, it automatically restarted itself after warning it couldnt load a console, then some other errors where it said permission was denied for access into files i guess

Also why does it keep making a 'lost and found' folder in the ext2 partition?

Now it says

"ext2 fs warning..

freeing init memory:120k

warning failed to open on initial console.

Failed to execute/init.Attempting defaults...

kernel panic - not syncing. No init found. Try passing init= option to kernel."

Any solution ?

Thanks for all your hard work with the android omnia project. I'll be donating after I buy a new bass amp =) Untill then, I'll help where I can, with testing and such. Also if anyone has problems with formatting a storage card I just had a hell of a time with windows 7/ubuntu live cd, but managed to get it working. If you have questions feel free to ask here or shoot me a PM. I'll get back to you as work and band practice and girlfriend and other things allow. Thanks again devs, you've put a smile on my face.

@youngbu

dont use andromnia with your phone! its for 240x400 resolution only!

you can brick you phone with wrong display settings!!!

if you are able to build andromnia from source you can do following steps to make it work:

checkout svn

edit .../andromnia_kernel/arch/arm/mach-pxa/sgh_i900.c

go to line 99/100

change xres & yres to the correct values.

maybe you have to modify the pixclock, too!

remember its high risk to try this!!!

greetings, fella

Ok guys, I've been reading this thread with awe and following your amazing development over the last week or so ...

However, is there any "easy" way to create the partition on the SD card...

I'm running XP Professional at work and dont really wanna download over half a gig of Ubuntu Live download.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Ta thanks

GG
