Sometimes I can't answer the phone...?

I have S2U2 installed, and every so often, when my phone is locked, it'll ring, but the answer and end buttons won't come up. It will wake up, but the S2U2 screen will be up instead. If I slide to unlock it, then try to press the call start hard button, it brings me to my phone dialer, but it won't pick up the call.

I still haven't figured out a way to answer the call when this happens. IS there a way to answer the call when hitting the call answer/send hard button doesn't work, and there is no "press to answer" kind of soft key popping up on the screen? So far, I've just been having to call everyone back, but it kind of defeats the purpose of having a functional phone if I can't answer the freaking thing reliably.

I just got rid of s2u2 because I got sick of this. I tried everything in the FAQ but it still happened.

Really frustrating to have your phone ringing and no way to answer it.

Oh, I didn't realize it was a common problem. I did actually think that my phone just hated me. Because they are capable of that, y'know.

I looked over the FAQ's, and there wasn't anything specifically about no buttons coming up and not being able to answer, but maybe this question would be better suited over at XDA in their thread.

Actually, I do have another question, did you replace S2U2 with anything else? I like the whole slide to unlock interface because, well, I like sliding to unlock my phone, however, maybe there's some better alternative out there that I've just never heard of?

Fingers crossed.

Mate I have s2u2 and for me it does the same thing when you have the touch button to answer set up, I find if you set it to slide to answer it will work all the time. s2u2 is buggy but I guess we will have to wait for a new version.

As for not being able to answer your phone when the buttons don't come up, I pressed the hard answer key and it will always answer so not sure why yours wont do the same thing?.

Hm, maybe I'll have to give the slide to answer a try.

I had that setting enabled on my old phone, and it only worked half the time. Granted, the whole phone only worked half the time too, so maybe it's time to give it another shot, lol.

Thanks for the input! I really am curious as to why my hard answer/send button refuses to actually... answer. Every time it's happened, it's pulled up the keypad. And then if I hit the green call button on the keypad (I mean, it makes calls with it, so why wouldn't it answer calls?), it takes me to the last number dialed.

Maddening!

I have the same issue with s2u2 and SPB Shell 3, but it seems it only happens the first time after a soft reset, and supposedly if you go to the Today screen after this happens it works correctly ( until the next reset ). There is a patch released on xda forums for this but i never installed it, you could give it a try..

I'll have to find that patch and give it a try.

I tried S2A mode and found it even more frustrating and suffering from the same issues.

I also tried a couple of other alternative locking apps and wasn't happy with any of them so I'm back to the crappy built in "unlock -> Tap here" which doesn't lock incoming calls. No pocket answers yet and not calls I wasn't able to answer. Since it's more important that my phone work than that it look cool I have to live with this for now. But I'll try to find that patch and give it a try.

And if anyone would be willing to post the patch here, that would be great. I think MS3 is the cause the of the hardware buttons not answering in my case, so this is consistent with what you're seeing.

Here. It's 1.65 beta 2 release. Just replace the old file with this one.

Ah, I'm so glad it's not just me! I mean, I'm not glad it's happening to you too, but well, you know what I mean.

I'll give the patch a try, and hope for the best. Thanks for posting it over here. That XDA thread is out of controllll!

I have MS3 installed with s2u2 and when the answer buttons do not show on screen when set to answer to touch my hardware buttons work as they should, so MS3 cannot be the cause of this bug?
