Guest Paul Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Live photos and hands on at MobileBurn! P
Guest Shuflie Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Advanced R-type Touch Screen I assume this bit just means that its a resistive touch screen? Talk about trying to make the ordinary sound sexy!
Guest Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Have I completely missed it or have they left out the accelerometer from the Omnia II? Watching the Mobileburn video it seems auto screen rotation either wasn't working or is no longer a part of the Omnia experience :D
Guest chokia Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 How come Omnia II , Pro and Lite with the same WM6.1, but pro has 16M color screen but the rest still 65K
Guest FerdiBorbon Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Yeah the colors is what definately gets me...as at 65k colors its noticable on movies with dark scenes and it looks ugly... im getting confused which phone to get
Guest AlecR Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Contract been up for a while - was waiting for Touch Pro2, but do I now wait for OmniaPRO B7610 (or even for Palm Pre!)? Decisions, decisions... Someone help!!
Guest Shuflie Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) Windows Mobile 6.5 Updateability The new Omnia smartphone series devices will be updateable to Windows Mobile® 6.5 upon the new OS update release. Please contact your mobile operator and/or local Samsung office for details. Are Samsung just going to totally ignore the requirements for Windows mobile 6.5? None of the phones above have any hint of a windows key and only the B7320 (I've deliberately left out the OmniaPRO title as it doesn't make sense to call two completely different devices an OmniaPRO with only a model number differentiating them) has an actual back key, with the OmniaPRO (see what I'm doing here) having an OK key which might just qualify it as having a back key. The 'II' and the Lite are both pretty short on keys from what I can see. EDIT: Perhaps the Local Samsung office are going to arrange for additional keys to be added when the update is available. Guest FerdiBorbon Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 (edited) Any Release dates for these babies? Omnia II and Pro B7610? Seriously why didnt they just dump 16m colors on the Omnia II...that would have made me make my mind asap. :D Edited June 16, 2009 by FerdiBorbon
Guest Joel Ivory Johnson Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 I really love the Omnia II. I was about to borrow an Omnia a few weeks ago and it's the best Windows Mobile phone that I've ever used. But the one I borrowed was CDMA (i910 - Verizon, USA) so I could never fully use it. I hate that the American Omnia II is also CDMA only. But as phones go you will almost never find everything you want in the same phone. So I'll be ordering the GSM version knowing that I won't be able to use it in 3G mode.
Guest Omniaaddicted Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 this is my opinion... samsung have many version omnia...and those run with winmo.... maybe it make easy the development improve the firmware... and with our omnia...we can get new firmware because attendance those omnia
Guest achen_su Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 Paul Can u give the spec processor and ram and rom. internal memory 1gb. rom or ram? and my storage capacity thanks
Guest Mr. B! Posted June 16, 2009 Report Posted June 16, 2009 I'm very happy with my Omnia and it looks like the main dissapointments I have with the current Omnia have been addressed: 3.5mm jack A-GPS (hopefully unlocked!) Longer battery life Can't say I like the athestics better, but is it better to have a pretty wife that can't cook or an ugly wife that puts Emeril to shame?
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 Wonder how much the OmniaLITE will be? Better start saving :D
Guest Tim-H Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) I-8000 looks sexy. One thing though, A-GPS is listed, wondering if it will have a hardware gps reciever, or will it be software only? Suprised Verizon is picking it up. wow Edited June 17, 2009 by Tim-H
Guest Tim-H Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 I assume this bit just means that its a resistive touch screen? Talk about trying to make the ordinary sound sexy! I'd much rather have a resistive touch screen than a capacitive one. I might be in the minority. I don't have a need for multitouch, and I like to be able to use anything for a stylus. Plus I like to ride my bike, and wearing gloves would be pain with capacitive. You have to take them off every time you want to use the phone. On top of that, if you scratch or damage your screen you can replace a resistive for a lot cheaper.
Guest FerdiBorbon Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 (edited) Thumbs up for that too same here...Resistive i can live with but the Omnia II have 65k i cant deal with :D Hopefully the final version changes to 16m colors... or are these the final specs from Samsung? Edited June 17, 2009 by FerdiBorbon
Guest Paul Posted June 17, 2009 Report Posted June 17, 2009 WinMo doesn't support >65k at this time. Is it really that much of an issue? :D P
Guest Skeese Posted June 18, 2009 Report Posted June 18, 2009 the B7610's RAM lets it down, otherwise it's a fine device :D
Guest saverio Posted June 22, 2009 Report Posted June 22, 2009 the issue is in releasing these now is that as soon as windows mobile 7 is released it will be old tech straight away. I can't see samsung offering decent support on these either if their support portal with the i900 is anything to go by. I'm waiting for the Winmo 7 devices to come out, until then I think i'll be looking to a touch HD as I don't want to wrap myself up in a contract with a phone which won't be supporting a WM7 rom with 7 on the horizon
Guest TimLayton Posted June 25, 2009 Report Posted June 25, 2009 Clearly the new Omnia II is an incredible piece of technology. I am very anxious to see and touch this new huge screen and to see how it works under varying lighting conditions. The technical specs are off the charts good, so I am excited to check this out in person. Based on the screen size this is going to make media apps really good, but I wonder about battery life.
