I am using the regular Copilot 7 on my Omnia. I went to their website but did not find any information specific to Omnia. Can you please let me have the link? Thanks.

Sure. The build number for the Omnia is 7.8.0.162

It's not just downloadable from a link on their web site. You need to open a support request and ask them for the Omnia Build of CoPilot 7. They will ask you to confirm your license key. Do so and they will send you a link specifc to your country.

I can report that it runs much faster than previous builds, there are new options like cycling information at the bottom of the screen instead of static speed or distance etc, it supports landscape now and the maps are up to date! It even autodetects the GPS chip in about 1 second now.

Gotta be worth it! http://www.alk.eu.com/support/

I sent the US support an email but I wonder if they will have one for us. Thanks for the tip.

Hi Jonboyuk,

I've now got the Omnia build version 7.8.0.162 and it works like a dream, but I've some issues regarding the POIs and Safety Camera Alerts. After installation, you are told in the email to go http://safetycam.alk to import the POIs and the Safety Camera Alerts, but that link is dead or non-existent.

Did you manage to import the POIs and the Safety Camera Alerts?

Thanks for the prompt reply. I now know where to download the safety camera alerts from. But I still have a major issue regarding the POIs. I know I've got them because they are in the Storage Card/copilot/EU/Places/standard folder, there are about 17 items in there. But when I go into settings to enable the POIs, nothing shows up, anybody else experiencing this problem?

Sorry about my late reply. They have changed the way that you installed safety cameras now as it's different for this build.

You need to:

1: Download that ezp file from the ALK web site.

2: You need to delete any safetycam files present in \My Storage\CoPilot\EU\Save (usually just a safetycam.bmp or something IIRC)

3: You need to delete the Safety Cam folder present in \My Storage\CoPilot\EU\Places (only if present)

4: Then copy the safetycam.ezp to the usual directory \My Storage\CoPilot\EU\Save

5: Finally reopen CoPilot 7 and it will start reintegrating new POI's!

That's it. Remember you need to do this each time you update your safety cameras with the new build of CoPilot 7

Jon

Edit - It may be \My Storage Card\ in your case!

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the reply, tried it still no joy. Will give ALK a call tomorrow to see if they can help.

Hmm strange. Well let us know what they say! The other thing to try is when you're erasing files, make sure in the \My Storage\CoPilot\EU\Save you've erased all AO*.* files (anything starting with AO basically)! Then recopy the ezp file in there!!

Hi Jon,

I finally managed to make it work, I simply uninstalled and then reinstalled CoPilot, and hey presto, it worked. :D

Thanks for all your help.

Smooth.

Woohoo. I just used it driving home from Gloucester. It's so smooth and the routing engine has been updated, it's much better now. If I used to select avoid motorways, instead of putting me on A-roads, it would just put me on a variety of A and B (mostly :D which was awful. Now it just knows!

No not at all in the Omnia settings there is an icon for XtraGPS which gives you the quick fix. Just use that - no registry settings are needed to be made for this fix. Maybe you're using the i910?

You should upgrade to CoPilot 8!! It's awesome, I've had it for 2 weeks now and I love it :D

I'm with i900!!

XtraGPS option will be an additional cost for me since I do not have a data plan with my contract!! But it could be handy to used rather hanging around hour or two to get GPS fix!! ;) ;)

Of course its worth me while to consider upgrade as it so cheap B) ........ as 22quid :D

Cheers'

CoPilot Live 8 more identical to iGO8!! Because its most features are already with iGO8. However there are few new funtions like tunnel guidance (I hardly used it) :D

But un-doubtably it should be eye-cady!! ;) So worth me while to have a go

I agree with with jonboyuk, CoPilot Live 8 is simply awesome. ;)
