I have purchased a vodaphone branded omnia off ebay and the information from the version screen shows:

PDA: i900XXHJ6/ACHJ2

Phone : i900BUHJ1

I have read through a lot of material on a few forums and searched google, however I am concerned that my phone will never receive a 3G signal and may not have been originally designed for the UK market as I do not appear to have the option of selecting the 2100 frequency which I believe would be o2 and vodaphone uk 3G freqs (I am on o2).

Could someone more knowledgeable than me please help?

I have seen a 3G icon on the screen once but only temporarily

PLEASE HELP :D

EDIT:

From the Specs on ebay it states EDGE, GPRS, GSM 1800, GSM 1900, GSM 850, GSM 900, HSDPA 2100

In the frequency band drop down box in the phone settings I have: Automatic; GSM 900/1800; GSM850/1900; WCDMA

I also have a seperate button in connections which is HSDPA which is enabled. The above setting is on automatic.

it should switch automatically to 3g. WCDMA is the 3G 2100 band. Maybe your area doesen't have coverage or maybe the 3G is not activated from your provider, keeping the phone from connecting to the network on that band.

Thank you for your reply, it could well be something to do with my network provider or possibly even sim card

i have been looking and came across this thread:

http://www.modaco.com/content/absolute-beg...my-rom-version/

I seems to say for my phone it is UK (or other BU countries) and is vodafone and from 2008. So just got fingers crossed that the Vodafone version of the phone works on the same 3G frequency as O2 do.

Can anyone confirm I am heading along the right lines?

Or if vodafone UK and O2 UK 3G are on the same frequency?

Thanks
