Sorry if this has been answered, the information regarding it seems quite convoluted so I'm hoping to get a straightforward answer.

I'm looking to have WM6.5 on my contracted UK Vodafone Omnia, is there an official way of doing this?

Thanks in advance.

short answer - Nope.

I'm a vodafone customer, and read allot on the voda website on this subject...... the only 'official ROM' is the ACHJ2 from the samsung website...anything else will invalidate your warranty.

I decided to take the risk and update to 'unofficial ROMS' . I haven't updated to 6.5.... but the latest 6.1 rom (DXID1) is def worth updating to.

That's a shame :D

Is there anything I can do about that?

What is at risk if I use a hacked ROM?

I have insurance with Vodafone...Would that be worthless if I hack my Omnia?

Where would I start?

*sighs at noobness with mobile phones*

Risk is that you brick your phone, and kill it (although this seems to be a rare thing). I looked on the Samsung website, and there are repair centres around the UK... so they could re-flash for you.

The official line would be your insurance is void.... although, why tell them?!??! just say you were updating to official ROM and it failed (hopefully they wouldn't be able to tell)

Go for it mate.... try a 6.1 rom first.

I'm using this one:

First time is nerve racking!! ....but you'll soon have done loads and wonder what al the fuss was about (have done mine at least 5 times)

just make sure you have the samsung modem driver installed first

let us know how you get on.

If I update to the official one now will that stop me from installing a hacked ROM in a few days?

Nope, in fact it's better if you do it that way... I remember reading that you should update to a fairly recent one first anyway (i.e. ACHJ2).... then move on from there

Good luck.
