After looking around these forums I have noticed that have bricked their phones claimed them as stolen and kept the old ones. I have a huge scratch on my omnia and I finally got everything the way I like it, cooked rom, unlocked gps, etc... I have the warranty so I could just tell them it overheats a lot and get a new one but I wouldn't mind just buying a replacement screen from someone on here. Just googled a replacement screen and noticed its about 100 bucks, not willing to pay anything near that.

Should I even try to replace it, or just call big V tomorrow and tell them its overheating and turning off (or another reason if you have used a good one lemme know)?

Here's a good reason to use: Tell them that the touch screen won't calibrate properly (ie, bring up Notes and start drawing - the line should appear directly beneath your stylus, but in many phones the actual spot won't line up with the spot you're touching). My Omnia had that problem on the top 50% of the screen... very frustrating because you're always clicking on the wrong choice! I took it to a VZW store and they swapped it immediately - no questions asked; didn't even try it themselves. Apparently this is a pretty common problem, and replacement is the only fix.

Ok I will use both excuses when I talk to them then.

Now that I have a cooked rom should I go back to the stock rom, and will I be able to? Should I just go to the CC20 rom cuz it looks like the original rom?

Flash to CC20, or pull the plug while flashing and say it won't turn back on after you did a hard reset.

Everyone talks about how they just call in and get a new one sent out so easily I was on the phone for an hour and at a moment I felt like they werent gonna give me a new one.

Other people say that walk into verizon and just get a new one like that, I called and they said they couldnt do that, that they could try to fix the problem and if they cant theyll send for a new one. Well I got a proof of purchase coming that I have to take in

and then get the store to inspect my phone for cracks or damages and if there are none then they will exchange it.

Everyone else makes it so easy getting a replacement, I feel like they're gonna see the scratch and say no.

That's ridiculous.. Hence why I think I would go to flash mine, pull the plug (that way the Samsung screen comes on but never actually boots up, hence can't be hard reset and they can't do anything with it, not even see what ROM is on it!) and say that you went and did a hard reset and now it's doing this, fix it, fix it, fix it!!! ;) They'd give in quick..

Or, if you get someone that's giving you a lot of push back for what you're doing, hang up and call back until you get someone more sympathetic, or if you're in a store, ask to deal with someone else, or ask for the manager. :D

Customer service still exists, you just need to go about different means of finding it :D

So the insurance company (not verizon) is sending out a new phone tomorrow and will be inspecting mine to see that there are no damages to the phone when they get it returned from me. got me a little worried the way they talked and asked for my number to reach me if there were any problems, but i hope they just mean like actual damage to the phone, not just a scratch on the screen.
