Guest wimpie6 Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Hi, anyone experience with the GPS reception and if it is possible to improve it with a bluetooth GPS receiver? reason for asking is because I purchased McGuider navigation software (which is great) but as with most portable naviagation devices it sometimes takes a very long time until a good GPS signal is received, specially when it is cloudy or raining I know that with portable navigation systems, in most cases you can connect a wired GPS antenna which can be placed in or even outside your car and then reception is improved a lot on the market you have Bluetooth GPS receivers (price 20 to 120 Euro) which are normally intended to be used with phones or pda's which don't have an internal GPS receiver. As these are quite big compared to your omnia I thought that they would work better, in the store they couldn't advise a recommended type and when I raised the same question to Samsung support, they told me it is not possible...? all advice is appreciated Wim
Guest necosino Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 Any bluetooth receiver will work just fine when paired with the Omnia. I know there is one that is the size of a thumb drive and hooks right into your key chain!

I know there is one that is the size of a thumb drive and hooks right into your key chain! The one mentioned above is the Freedom 2000 (google search). It sells for $50 -$70 USD on eBay. I used one until the new C220 Rom for the i910 hit the streets. It's really small and has amazing battery life for it's size.
Guest necosino Posted June 26, 2009 Report Posted June 26, 2009 That's the one. I've never used it but everyone says it's awesome for its price and the size can't be beat!
Guest jenben Posted June 27, 2009 Report Posted June 27, 2009 Guys why do you need a bluetooth receiver for gps when omnia has one built in? Or is it the i910 dont have one built in? Brendan

Brendan He is wanting a separate GPS device for quicker lock and better tracking. Worth it if used enough. Would also help save battery life a good bit.
