WM6.5 "official like" ROM

Hey guys!

Am I the only one searching for a "official like" WM6.5 rom? I would like all the stuff, that comes with the official samsung roms (all apps, menus and stuff), but instead of WM6.1, there would be WM6.5?

I don't want stuff removed and I don't want stuff added that I don't need. I'm sure that a lot of people would like to have such a rom.

Please don't chew my head off for asking :D

Asking the question, particularly in your own mind, is not wrong.

Not searching first for several other newbi threads that have been created lately with exactly the same question, I think, is wrong.

We (those who have a lot of expertise, and those like me with a little knowledge) would really like (and even enjoy) to help you and others, but I am really totally getting tired of answering (or see someone else answering) the same newbi questions so many times over and over again.

Maybe the mods could setup a really special thread with these highly repeated newbi questions, and then one of us could just point out that thread to the newie, cause it seems they just will not do a search first on the most general of questions, ones not even the least bit technical.

And then there are a few "semi-technical" ones too. How many posts/questions have you all seem lately where the correct answer was \settings\system\Large Display\just check or uncheck the box ??? ugh ;) (screams while pulling hair out....)

1) Ignore them

2) Reply "Do more research"

3) Hope mods setup a point system whereby users can zap these lazy people who post such questions without researching.

and when they reach 0 or negative points, they can't post anymore nor access/view download links.

1. I would hate to do that all the time as we were all newbes once, even if on some other site. But it didn't take long or just a couple of scoldings to learn to search, search, search!

2. I've seen this reply often. Might be the best course.

3. Sounds good, but I don't think the forum background programs are set up to do anything like that. :D

I'm sort of a noobie but you longtime posters are missing the bigger issues.

The single biggest reason you have so many questions like this is the lack of centralised information.

I started using this forum and had a few problems with my omnia. I'm pretty technical so i decided to go to DXID1 to see what the best/latest (as good as original (semi-fficial - yes i know its not offical..you know what i mean tho) firmware.

This solved a lot of problems and made my experience a lot better.

I am no stranger to cabs.

But there is no changelogs on Custom ROMs (or even original roms....what was fixed??)

From this version to this version i changed XYZ etc, just some brief notes and minor changes.

I am using one of Khuanchai's ROMs currently on WM6.5 - where in the Samsung section is there a list of changes introduced for 6.1 -> 6.5 and the changes pertaining to the Omnia.

What reg fixes have already been made while testing a ROM? When i search an old thread am i wasting my time.

Paul's Apps thread is incredibly out of date bar some apps etc.

This is the main problem, nobody knows comprehensively what they currently have already fixed/added/removed into their ROM except in the most basic sense. I can almost imagine cooking my own to eliminate the frustration of other people's lack of documentation.

I appreciate the work sector + others put in to even give us the repositories for cabs etc.

But how well do those cabs integrate with 6.5, will they keep the background settings of the phone, will they get the keypad problem like on the original black skin. None of this information is available in a clear post by any ROM maker.

sector and Khuanchai's documentation is fairly good and i love the screenies....but....i still find myself thinking, what stuff is fixed in this ROM.

Anyway i've waffled on too long.

But that's the reason these basic questions are asked.

I know because i am suffering similar frustration right now trying to find differences in original firmware changes.

I also put up similar queries and then the members who are involved in developing custom roms laughed.

none of the Custom rom's thread is having complete info on what the developer has added in current build and what he removed.

Everyone is stating they are using DXID1 but no one mentioned from where they obtained irrespective of whether it is official or unoffocial so that if anyone want to cook his own custom rom he can download from such location.
