Guest HyDr4 Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 Hi there. It has been a while since i last read something about this topic and i was just wondering if something could make the 3G work for america with the I900. I heard somwthing with the Grandpix and staff. I would really appreciate if someone gives me a clear answer^^ Thank u in advance.
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 There has been alot of research and trial into this, but as far as i know its not working yet. Normally, the i900 is only enabled to use the 2100 frequency, and not 850/1900 like pretty much every other device. The problem is no US GSM carriers support that frequency so you cannot get a high-speed connection in the US with the i900. There is always the i910 on Verizon if your craving that badly, Verizon does have a pretty good 3G network.
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 The radio reciever is different in the i900, than that of the i910 and i900L; therefore, it's just not possible for the i900. I lost track of the research a while back because the result has always been the same - the hardware (radio) just can't support any software mods. Your best bet is to get either a i910 - which has already been suggested. Or, you can obtain an i900L, which was developed for Latin America. There, they do use all GSM frequencies and the phone hardware supports this. Originally, the i900 was developed with the Asian and European markets in mind - well, at least that's what was said in the beginning. Unless I'm mistaken, the newer generation of Omnia's are supposed to be multi-band.
