Guest FileTrekker Posted July 1, 2009 Report Posted July 1, 2009 (edited) Hi, Had an Omnia for about a week now, and I've discovered many things that it seems to stumble on that my old phone did not, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any solutions to them. 1) It can't sync properly. When I connect it to USB, WMDC does nothing. Device Manager picks it up okay. The only way to make it sync is to change to USB mass storage then back again, and the phone finally opens the ActiveSync connection. This makes using Sprite Backup Manager next to useless. 2) It can't sync properly over bluetooth. It works the first couple of times, but then it makes WMDC throw an unspecified "error" and will only work with Bluetooth again after a full hard reset. 3) With PhoneEx, it won't answer a call. When the device is locked, it just can't answer incoming calls, onscreen or via hardware button. Just locks up like a lemon. 4) If I turn the screen off, in WMP, it does not lock the buttons. I like to turn the screen off rather than the whole device, by assigning a HW button to "Toggle Screen" in WMP, so the repeat function works. Problem is, when I put my Omnia in my pocket, the optical scroller etc. go haywire and change track, or stop, or worst try call somebody. My old phone locked all keys except screen toggle / power. Is there no way to do this on Omnia? 5) The battery reading is just nonsense. Does anyone else find the battery reading is just useless? It's only real function is that it gives me a vague indicator that I have anywhere between 0-50 minuets of battery life left, or I have more. It wildly fluctuates between 15%, 50% and 80% etc. as the mood takes it.... Anyone have any ideas on these? Much thanks. Edited July 1, 2009 by FileTrekker

Guest Tim-H Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 (edited) flashing a new ROM would deffinatly help my friend.... I agree. Sounds like bugs that have been worked out, at the very least by custom ROMs. The syncing issue sounds like something that would be fixed by one of the official updates though. I haven't experienced it, but i am running an i910, so it's slightly different. Would likely fix the answering problem too. What do you mean by it wont lock the buttons? Have you set up in settings/system/power to wake on power button only? That sounds like what is happening. More information on what you mean though, I'm not quite sure. Edit: I re read what you put up there, Are you saying the repeat function doesnt work if you turn the screen black? I've never experienced this. When im listening to music I hold the end button to lock the screen and turn off the screen with the power button on the top. If that isnt working for you, I think updating would help you out there as well. Good luck. There is a battery driver that one of the guys here made that will give you a read out at 1% or 5% but it does slightly drain the battery faster because it's accessing information about it constantantly. If you went to a custom ROM most of them have this built in already. Edited July 2, 2009 by Tim-H
Guest lorin.bute Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 New ROM my friend. It seems you have a stock ROM (which has bugs).
Guest FileTrekker Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 I have Sector's Windows Mobile 6.5 rom.
Guest ^nighthawk^ Posted July 2, 2009 Report Posted July 2, 2009 (edited) I have Sector's Windows Mobile 6.5 rom. Well this is my config (may or may not help): Computer: I'm using Khuanchai's 6.5 rom atm and it picks it up everytime. Edit: actually i should clarify i'm using his lite rom from 11 June 2009. I'm on Windows 7 with Windows Mobile Device Center installed (didnt have to install a driver on W7 which was nice :D) Connection Settings: Allow USB Connections: YES Allow Connections to: Bluetooth This computer is connected to: Automatic Allow automatic device authentication: YES Allow data connections when device connected to pc: NO Phone: These are the settings currently being used: USB to PC -> Enable Enhanced Network Functionality Ticked USB Connection Mode -> Active Sync. I also always click: Connect without setting up my device as i tend to use googlemail and sync mail etc through a different mechanism. 2) It can't sync properly over bluetooth. It works the first couple of times, but then it makes WMDC throw an unspecified "error" and will only work with Bluetooth again after a full hard reset. Not really tried bluetooth other than transferring files to friends and trying out some headsets. Afraid i dont have the exp in this area. 3) With PhoneEx, it won't answer a call. When the device is locked, it just can't answer incoming calls, onscreen or via hardware button. Just locks up like a lemon. Odd :? - Sectors roms afaik didnt contain the phone parts. In your "device" info what version is the phone part? I have updated my ROM to DXID1 from Secany (its in a thread in the ROM section). However that isnt official...i think the last official is something like DXIA5 worldwide...although not necessarily for your region. I then flashed to Khuanchai's ROM afterwards. Not played with WMP - I use coreplayer. So again no experience here sorry :) 5) The battery reading is just nonsense. Does anyone else find the battery reading is just useless? It's only real function is that it gives me a vague indicator that I have anywhere between 0-50 minuets of battery life left, or I have more. It wildly fluctuates between 15%, 50% and 80% etc. as the mood takes it.... There should be a decent driver for battery in some roms. But i'll admit its not the most accurate, my one in Khuanchais appears to be fine however. Hope i might have helped in some minor way as i am learning this like you are ;) FYI: I flash with windows XP running on VMWare following the instructions in one of the stickies on the ROM thread.
