Guest Lost-in-omniA Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Hi All, Just Wondering that what takes the more battery life? music or talking? I charge my omnia and then didn't use it for about 85hrs and still i have 20% of battery. In between i just use it for GPS may be (15 Min). Is it Ok?
Guest Rooster Misfit Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 talking for sure.. music just puts out noise... talking on the phone puts out noise, records noise, and transmits the data out and receives the data in...
Guest StarVision Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 I think itz music. I use pocket music , 30 mins can use up to 10% of the battery , but 30 mins talk does not effect at all ~
Guest darkside80 Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 +1 for music max 12h of playtime on a full battery. also using pocket music
Guest Ingvarr Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 This will depend on how close you are to the cell tower. If you are close, phone will not use much transmitter power, so it will be less than music. If you are far from the cell or inside the building, phone will have raise transmitter power, to "cry louder to be heard", so to say. This way it could potentially be several times more expensive than just playing music.
Guest aceofrazgriz Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 i've gotten at least 8hrs solid music playback before, talk time isn't even half that. talk always sucks power because of everything Rooster mentioned.
Guest Tim-H Posted July 6, 2009 Report Posted July 6, 2009 Talking takes way more battery. It has to transmit and receive data. Music just plays a sound file, it's one of the least resource intensive things you can do with any type of computer. It's not a *my phone get longer talk time than music play time* argument. It's a fact.
Guest pallen Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 I would agree, in my experience, talking takes a LOT more power and drains the battery faster. I have listened to music for hour with very little battery drop. When you are on a call, the radio is on transmitting and receiving as well as playing sound. Make sure your player is set up to turn off the screen when you are playing music. If you are leaving the screen on while playing, that will definately suck power quickly.
Guest Lost-in-omniA Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Thanks All for the feedback, I think it's quite clear now that Talk time is consuming the battery more than anything. I have tested that and play music for 2hrs compare to 1hr of talk time.
