Guest EDBANGER Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Right I'm getting really cheesed off with this phone now and it's close to coming into violent contact with the wall. I have very little programmes installed on it. Of which I have tried to install them onto the memory card. The list is as follows.. Memaid (card) Coreplayer (card) SPB Mobile shell SPB Online (card) PPC Facebook Pocket Rar Microsoft net 3.5 So why the hell when I try and install a sat nav app does it then tell me that I have critically low memory? That lot is surely nowhere near 8gig of the main memory. Please for the love of god help me before I do something I may regret. ED
Guest necosino Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 Sounds very odd.. I would do this: Switch your USB Connection settings to Mass Storage: My Storage, then plug into your computer Check to see what your computer sees the space on your external memory is (It should be like 7.5GB) If not, you may have an issue..
Guest finaldestiny Posted July 7, 2009 Report Posted July 7, 2009 There are a total of 3 places you can install it on. If you're installing in on 'Storage', there shouldn't be any problems, unless you've got a ridiculously large amount of media on there.

OK so I do that and then I right click and select properties on the drive icon? I do that and it says I have 2.52gig free out of 7.41gig So that should be more than enough to install a Satnav app seeing as the maps are stored on the storage card. Does it sound like i'm doing the right thing here? ED
Guest jenben Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 When it tells you that you have critically low memory it means your device memory, ideally you should keep the device memory to a minimum. SPB Shell will be installed there and a few other programs as well. Just check to see what is installed on your device memory? Also go into settings/system/memory and check the Main tab storage memory free. Brendan
Guest EDBANGER Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 OK so in the Memory tab it says the following (main) Storage Total: 92.98MB In use: 87.75MB Free: 5.23MB Program Total: 97.23MB In use: 57.27MB Free: 39.96MB That's obviously my problem but I haven't knowingly installed anything onto the main memory. I always selected "storage" or "storage card". Where is this main memory and can I move anything from there and put it onto the card? Cheers ED
Guest bpivk Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 (edited) So why the hell when I try and install a sat nav app does it then tell me that I have critically low memory? That lot is surely nowhere near 8gig of the main memory. Here is your problem. Every GPS program I have tryed (Igo, Garmin) uses about 5-6mb of internal storage. SPB itself uses a few megs of internal storage and that along with browser cookies, cache and history can really use a lot of space. The best option is to use a lite rom and install everything to storage card but note that some files will still reside on your internal memory. The next step is to change the location of browsers history, cache,... You can do that with different programs like SKtools. And I can't really remember what else I did to my phone so someone else can chime in. Edited July 8, 2009 by bpivk
Guest AngusATAT Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 You might want to search for an app called ClearTemp. It will help free up some memory by clearing out some temp files that are stored on your Omnia when you browse the web, etc.
