Guest sid0101 Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Well, I decided to finally use ORB. I know a lot of people on these boards are having success using it. However, I haven't gotten it to work completely for me. When I sign on to mycast.orb.com I am able to view my pictures, however, the bigger problem is streaming my music and movies. First, when I try to access ORB from Opera Mobile 9.5 something pops up that says ASplayer cannot be found...blah blah. Now, I know that ASplayer has been removed from many of the custom roms and even if it were reinstalled it probably wouldn't play all the files like xvid or h264 files or ac3 audio. I was hoping that because I had Coreplayer associated with every file that it would automatically stream to it. But, I had no luck. I then installed TCPMP Phenom 3, associated all the files with it and still no luck. Looking at the problem, I figured it might have been something on the Opera end of things, so I tried using Iris 1.18, and here I actually get to download something to some file. It ends up being a file with the extension ".sdp" However, when I try to open that stream with Coreplayer or TCPMP open at all, saying that it is an unsupported format. Fine.... Iris Browser doesn't like Orb either. Next, I tried IE. Now, this version of IE is different from the 6.1 version, like many of you probably know. When I tried selecting a movie file it didn't do anything. It seemed that it was trying to load stream the show in the browser itself, but nothing popped up at all. So, I guess I am out of options.... When I was searching through the forums, I know that many people said that IE worked for them and it automatically popped up in Windows Media player, but I don't even have that going for me. Hopefully someone can give some guidance. Sid0101
Guest dwallersv Posted July 8, 2009 Report Posted July 8, 2009 Did you configure the streaming type on the Orb side? Go to the mycast site from your Omnia browser (Opera is just fine), Open up settings (at the bottom of the mobile interface), and set the stream to be WMV. Also make sure you set Opera to identify itself as desktop device rather than mobile (I know, seems backwards).
Guest sid0101 Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Dude, thanks a lot. I feel like a dunce. It really helped. However, I was unable to choose WMV. I was able to choose .asx and .3gp and some others. I ended up choosing .asx. Should I have chosen another format because it is better quality? Anyhow, thanks for the help!
