what is your omnia setup??

hello!!

i'm so glad that there is a community for windows mobile more specifically the samsung omnia. i've been going through the forums and i'm so excited but i have no clue where to start and i don't understand any of the terminology. i have a factory omnia i900 straight out of the box... i would like to get winmo 6.5 because that seems to be the lastest.. i currently have 6.1. i think i'll have to update my ROM? but i don't know which... and what is flashing? because it seems like ill have to flash to install a new ROM? i will appreciate any suggestions tips etc! it will be great to hear what u have on ur omnia and ur opinions and why ur setup is the best!

Before flashing with win 6.5 or any of the custom ROMs, you should try a normal update/flash that Samsung has provided (you can get it from here - http://www.samsungmobile.com/support/omnia/index.jsp) Just follow all instructions carefully, if you mess up, ya brick ya phone ;) (tip: Ensure your battery is fully charged and use phillipines as location to get the latest ROM)

i forgot to mention i currently have DXHH1... i updated to this ROM straight from pauls tutorial. is it still ok to do a normal update/flash?

Note: THIS IS ONLY IF YOU HAVE AN i900

I went to the non-official DXID1 from Secany (its in a thread on this forum) basically it fixes a lot of bugs and was the best "original style" firmware. There is a rumour i heard that maybe someone who works at samsung helped out with it ;)

It is the base that all current custom roms appear to be being created from.

While i liked DXID1 i didnt get on with the original samsung interface.

So i chose a custom rom (most of these have some bugs tbh) but provide increased functionality speed etc.

From then on i would guess you can just download and install what you like.

Best place to start though is DXID1 imo, see how that goes for you.

Follow the sticky on how to flash, i'm not responsible if you brick it btw! :D

After all that, i then went to Khuanchai's latest (3 in 1) Windows Mobile 6.5 rom (the latest one).

Its called 3 in 1 because you can activate difference user interfaces.

I'm currently using an M2D interface.

Installed software i wanted.

Changed startup/loading screens etc.

Etc.

I was saying that you should do normal update really just to familiarize yourself with the update process in the safest manner (in the unlikely event something did go wrong you could carry it back as it's be still under warranty). I believe you can safely cross update/flash as much as you like, regardless of which one you're currently using, just don't go waaay back and choose a really old one tho ;)

btw...stay away from GrandPrix... stick to just the .exe files. Good luck.

Hello everybody, I am new in this forum. I followed this official Samsung update and it requests my Version, I informed BLE02 and it informs this is version is incorrect. My Omnia Version is:

Why do not I get to follow ahead in Samsung website?

Help me ASAP.

I have another problem in my NEW omnia, whe anyone call me and I press the button, sometimes there is a delay for another person hear me and I hear others. This happen each 4-5 callings.

Anyone could help in this problem too?

at moment I use it just like phone because I bought few days ago and I am worried with this problem
