Hi all,

I'm after a little help.Got my Omnia last November as an upgrade from Vodafone, volume levels were crap but sorted that problem out after using the forum.

Now onto my problem.

When the phone starts and shut downs,I get the start/close music, when I get a call it's ok...but when I try to test a sound to change the ringtone/e-mail etc..no sound!

The same goes for listening to mp3 or when I record video..no sound.

I have had this problem on the stock Vodafone rom and it's carried on doing the same after I upgraded to DXIA5.

version - DXIA5

phone - DXIA2

Thanks in advance

Pete

There is a fix for this but not sure if your problem is the same. When the sound disappears just make a quick call, it only has to be a few seconds and then hang up, your sound should then return. I also have an omnia from voda.

Did you install SRSwow or anything similar that could alter the drivers?

No,

its a clean install with DXIA5 clean rom,no other software has been installed yet.

Make sure your system and ring volume are both turned up. I know it sounds ridiculously simple, but if your ring volume is up but your system volume is on 0, obviously there won't be any sound when you test or play sounds, but there would be sound when you received a call/text/whatever...

Yep,

done that as well

I just can't figure out why it will sound off when I get a call, but I can't even test the standard ringtones either!

The speaker works, that's what's driving me mad!!

Did you fix this? I have a similar issue with DXID1, but intermittent. Sometimes it stops playing any sounds apart from my default ringtone and the beep when you press the end key. So like you I know the speaker works, but it won't play mp3s, alarm tones etc. - which is a pain because sometimes the bug happens during the night meaning my alarm doesn't sound. A soft reset seems to fix it, but not being able to depend on my phone as an alarm clock is no good at all.

Any help greatly appreciated, before I ditch this and get an Iphone!

Still not resolved the issue

It's an expensive laptimer for when I got to The Nurburgring, coz it's no good as a phone at the moment!!

Back to my trusty N95

Do you by any chance have MemMaid or some other memory management program installed and set up to move ringtones to My Storage or Storage Card? I did that once and it totally messed up the sound on my phone (although in my case it was the other way around: I could test the ringtones, but the phone wouldn't ring and alarm didn't work).
