Guest enterusernamehere Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 So I will be on vacation to europe or a couple of weeks. The places I will be staying at have wifi. I was told my phone wont work in Spain, b ut I do not want to take one of our laptops. Can I shut the phone off on the phone and turn the wifi on and be able to get on the internet? Are there any settings I would have to change to get on their wiif on my phone? Is there any real security risks to it? Thanks in advance, Joshua
Guest enterusernamehere Posted July 9, 2009 Report Posted July 9, 2009 Anyone have an idea? If I need to reword my question let me know. Leaving on sunday, and have lots to do before I leave so the sooner the better. Thanks!!
Guest KSTAN Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 you got to check whether the wifi is free or u need to pay for the use. either one, u need to get the login and passwd and logon using the browser before u can use. U might want to check with the ppl there where u stay, any specific settings or just connect and go.. ;)
Guest enterusernamehere Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Yeah I am pretty sure it all is free. I just wasnt for sure If i had to change any conection settings on my phone. Thanks
Guest bpivk Posted July 10, 2009 Report Posted July 10, 2009 Yeah I am pretty sure it all is free. I just wasnt for sure If i had to change any conection settings on my phone. WIFI or IEEE 802.11 is a standard and it doesn't depend where you are. It's all the same. But some people use different encryptions and additional software and that would make it hard to connect to those spots. So don't worry just make sure that it's free and open network or that it has a WPA1/2 or similar encryption that your phone supports.
