In the registry this is defined by a series of number in the registry entry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Hardware\Devicemap\Touch For example: ”519,503 177,881 182,129 847,127 849,872” On my Omnia, the alignment provided as the best (above) is way off; and when I realign via the Screen-Align tool, it always seems to be a bit off. For instance, I now find I have to type slightly above each item in order to select it properly. I figure I can tweak these numbers to get the 'perfect' alignment for my Omnia. But I don't know what each of these numbers represent and I can't seem to find any docs on it. Does anyone know what each set of these numbers represents? Or where to find documentation on this? I've seen a number of reports from people that never could get their Omnia screens to align properly -- and I was one of them. I tried everything I could find or think of, but alignment was always 'off' on the top half of my screen. (Interestingly, the bottom half was always fine.) Very frustrating, because I always ended up selecting the item just above the one I was aiming for. I finally went back to the Verizon store, and they simply replaced the phone without argument. The new one has been great, and I've had no further problems. If I were you, I'd save myself a lot of grief and simply get them to exchange the phone - I suspect you could even do it by calling VZW tech support vs. visiting a store. I gathered from talking to the tech at the store that it wasn't the first time they'd heard of alignment issues. (BTW, I had been running WM 6.5 but flashed back to the CC20 WM 6.1 ROM before exchanging the phone. I was concerned that they'd notice it wasn't the original BJ28, but they didn't even give it a second look.)

My only concern with calling support is that I will end up getting sent a refurb - and since my Omnia is new I'd really rather go and get a new one. I may consider that - I can try to play with the settings and if I can't get this one right I may just take it back in. Thanks! P.S. My only concern with calling support is that I will end up getting sent a refurb - and since my Omnia is new I'd really rather go and get a new one. I'm guessing it was a refurb, because it came in a plain white box with just a Samsung sticker on it. Only thing in the box was the phone body itself - no battery, stylus, or even battery cover. But you sure couldn't tell from looking at it - not a scratch anywhere; the display still had the clear plastic overlay; and it even had the tiny sticker on the top left side. I did check the hidden registry entry for "IsRefurb", and it was set to 0 just like my original phone. My original Omnia was only a couple months old. But if the replacement was a refurb, I guess I really don't care all that much because it was in even better shape than the one I returned... and more to the point, it worked properly! No more alignment issues, and haven't had any other problems with it either.
Guest awarner (MVP) Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 A refurb unit will generally have a new case and screen as you would want to recieve a scratched replament device. It's only the main board that remains depending on the fault the refurb unit had been returned for.
