I've heard of people "accidentally" bricking their phones and paying the fiddy dollars to get a replacement from big V. not suggesting just informing
Guest bigdaddykane Posted July 12, 2009 Report Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) He is right.... you must KILL your omnia in some way without getting the water indicator wet to return it..... if you brick it sometimes you can take it back to verizon and they will replace it..... but it can not turn on and show custom firmware... so to do an insurance claim through Assuriance or a samsung warranty you must murder your phone........ has worked 6 times for me... 3 insurance and 3 warranty..... (samsung warranty is free ;) ) depends how ethical you are ? Guest jaycarl Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 My buddy was having major problems with his Omnia after a flash. The only way to fix it was to get a replacement. Since he flashed he needed to completely brick it so they wouldn't see it was flashed. Since I knew his wife (like mine) carried a stun gun I told him to give that a try with the battery out (so it doesn't blow up in his face). It worked beautifully. Verizon scews us all the time, its nice to get them back every now and then.
Guest snake8b Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 (edited) I just returned my OMNIA as the GPS wasn't working. It was flashed with the leaked ROM. This was not the cause of the GPS problem, and Verizon will have no problem returning it to original. I don't expect to have any troubles.... It is in Verizon's best interest to keep there customers happy and provide working phones. Edited July 13, 2009 by snake8b
Guest necosino Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Snake, you forget though that customer service is dead. People are lazy and don't want to help others anymore ;) Now you have to fight with them to get a "good customer service experience" Good luck :D
Guest Draconius Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Why not just claim it lost or stolen? Then you don't have to show it bricked or not...
Guest level140 Posted July 13, 2009 Report Posted July 13, 2009 Why not just claim it lost or stolen? Then you don't have to show it bricked or not... Depends if they do that. My insurance is direct from verizon and yah, I can just claim it lost.

The old phone is on it's way back to whomever it goes to. The GPS finally works like it's supposed to ;)
Guest WhoTheHellAmI Posted July 15, 2009 Report Posted July 15, 2009 i had the original leaked rom on my phone and left it out in the rain, which somehow killed my touch screen, but that was the only problem, and they didnt even check it...they checked the water indicators and sent me a new phone, thats it...lol...but i wouldnt think they would appreciate seeing wm6.5 wozzer on there if i did it again...lol
Guest lsolsen Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 My touchscreen quit working. Flashed to the cc220, showed the rep at the store and viola... they sent me a new phone.
