I recently bought an ipod touch, and I like the browsing experience on it better than on my omnia, so I looked up this forums to find a way to use omnia as a wireless router and use its 3g connection to access the internet from anywhere, and then connect my ipod to the omnia via wifi to browse the internet from the ipod.

I did find some topics when I searched regarding this issue, but as I read , I get more confused instead of figuring it out!!! what is tethering?is it specific to i910 or can it work on i900 as well? Is it even related to my needs? what about wmwifirouter? is it enough or do i need an internet sharing program installed on both devices?!!!! I now have more questions than I had before looking it up, I feel so stupid, can anyone please guide me in the right direction?

Hello!

Tethering:Using your phone's internet connection to get internet on another device

WMWifiRouter:A program for tethering any Windows Mobile phone to another device

It doesn't matter what type of omnia you have, just it uses your data plan, so you should get an unlimited data plan. The only difference between the two is that Verizon customers are forced to buy the unlimited data plan.

Your iPod Touch needs nothing on it at all. When you run WMWifiRouter, your phone will make wireless network called "WMWifiRouter" with no password. From your iPod, you fust need to connect to the network like you would any normal network.

Good Luck!

ps:sorry for any typos, I posted this from my phone.

Did it take you an hour to type? I hate the typing experience on my omnia.

Yeah wifirouter works great. My kids were on their iPOD touch's using my omnia's 3g on our latest road trip... they were both streaming Pandora with no issues

Instead of starting a new thread I decided to add to this one.

I have the i910 running...well I can't remember which ROM I have at the moment. I switch them ever so often as I haven't found one that's just right for me yet. I know that I am using M2D though. I can find out which ROM tonight when I get home.

My problem is this. When I click on WiFi Router to start I get a message stating "There is no available Internet connection. Do you want to set up the Internet Connection?"

Now I have an active data connection (Opera 10 beta 3 is currently running and I just posted something on my friends Facebook) not to mention I'm using Mobile Banking too.

Can someone walk me through which steps I need to take in order to get this set up? I tried 'Celluar Line + #777 + multiple username passwords combinations and leaving everything blank' and I just can't get it to work right.

Thanks in advance and my apoligies if I should have started a new thread.

I had a hard time getting WMWiFiRouter to work with my Omnia/iPod touch. I think what worked for me was turning off the security. You can configure WMWiFiRouter to not use WEP by setting to open/test mode.
