i would really like to upgrade my omnia to a bog standard 6.5 (how it would be on the new omnias), but i have no idea where to start.

i see that theres a few different versions of 6.5 on the forums, which one should i go for, should i wait a while for a stable release?

i read on gizmondo how to upgrade which i was able to understand, the only problem was that he was doin it on a htc touch, is there a post showing how to do it on an omnia?

any help would be much appreciated.

thanks

i would have just linked him to the search page....

and to the original poster - if you have a i910 make sure the rom you are flashing is FOR the i910 and NOT the i900 or vise versa

Thanks Rooster...missed out on that... ;)

Read that topic and you'll find out. Or ask uncle google. Sorry for being harsh but if you search for how+rom or something in the lines of that you'll find a lot of similar topics.

So the be short: Flash your phone if you want 6.5 else stick with 6.1, mind the correct version or you'll brick your phone.

We have a lot of howtos so don't say you couldn't find them because they are pinned.

there is no more dummy proof than what was already layed out for you... the only way to get it easier is to get someone else to do it for you. if you choose that rout i suggest you have him show you how to do it step by step this way you dont keep pestering him.... or her

Yeah, flashing a ROM is a somewhat technical endeavor that can brick your phone if not done properly. Its not THAT hard if you are used to doing fairly technical things on computers or phones. I would say 1st determine if you have a i900 or i910. Look at the top for the respective ROM discussion area that goes with your phone. Go there and read all the stickies. If you are still lost, get help. Most of the instructions are step by step - the key is to find the right instructions for your phone and identify what order things need to be done in (for example, before flashing any ROMs for the i910. you need to first flash the "leaked" ROM from Verizon.) If you find instructions and there is a step you dont understand, post your specific question in the thread with the instructions you are following.

Good luck.

ands its a good idea to read all the instructions first before you follow them for the actual flashing

yes, read through the steps carefully and follow the procedures(should not be that hard).

If u missed or skip a step, u might end up with a bricked phone.

all of us are newbies b4, and have read through the threads, did some research, Google b4 proceeding.... ;)

i thought i was harsh :)

I think he wants a standard Omnia with WM6.5, i dont think anyone has made one...yet.....

I may do one, as people always ask for it....Thing is, once they try it, they end up flashing a real custom ROM...

;)

Noobs eh, where do they come from.....planet noobia, where we are all born :D

I was under the impression that all the cooked roms for i900 and i910 are just versions of 6.1 with titanium and other things added to them, but not actually winmo 6.5.
