Guest kdkinc Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 I'm looking to boost my EVDO signal on my Omnia i910. I use my i910 as a tethered modem for my desktop seeing that the best I can get for internet connection where I live. One sales rep say he can sell me a "booster" for $45.00 plus a cable that will plug into a jack under the battery cover. He can also sell me a new cover so that I can drill the cover and access the jack in the battery compartment. I didn't dare ask him about the bridge he wants to sell me. Is there a jack? Do these boosters work? I get ok signal now but I want more if possible.

Guest lsolsen Posted July 16, 2009 Report Posted July 16, 2009 Nothing under the cover except the battery and memory card slot don't see a jack to plug and externa antenna into. It's under the little black square south of the battery. Use an xacto or razor blade to gently to remove it
Guest lsolsen Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Sounds like warranty voiding surgery. Not at all. In fact, at your verizon store, you can order or purchase an external antenna for the omnia. The representative will advise you at the time of purchase to remove the sticker covering the antenna port. I am not sure how well (if at all) the external antenna works, but rest assured - uncovering your antenna port will NOT void your warranty. It's just a sticker. But please, if you have doubts, just ask your local Verizon dude.
Guest ardvarkofdoom Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 hahaha, my VZW rep told me (a really long time ago) that the port under the tape wouldn't work... it is "used for testing the phones and then disabled". I don't believe him, I just haven't tried an external antenna yet. I miss my 3 inch tall magnetic external antenna, that thing was a beast!
Guest Ninja4Hire Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 I actually have an antenna that I keep at my desk because my reception is so crappy here. The little port in the back works like charm. If I had a signal booster it would work even better. At the moment I went from no bars to 2 bars.

Guest Ninja4Hire Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 What type of antenna? Is this antenna connector for the phone or GPS? This is for the phone radio (antenna signal bars) Right now I am using the antenna kit I bought for my i760, but they all work the same as long as the adapter fits into the whole. Here is the actual Omnia adapter: WPS Antenna - Samsung Omnia Connector. Then you will just need to by any antenna to connect.
