Guest Rob Storm Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Seeing as how I really don't mind if I brick my Omnia (I have 3 of em), I dec ided to flash using Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. Forst, when the upgrade app is first run, you will see a note after you accept the terms telling you Active sync is not installed. No worries. In file explorer, go to the Verizon upgrade app and right click it. Choose "Properties". Then, select the "Compatibility" tab. All you need to do is select compatibility mode and use the dropdown box to select "Windws Vista (Service Pack 2)". Now when you run the application the flash will complete with no problems!!!!!!!! Guest Pwntastic Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 (edited) I've tried on two different Win7 x64 computers now. It doesn't yell at me about activesync after I set it to compatibility mode, but it doesn't detect when I restart my phone. It just sits there saying 'please wait while the device restarts', never going any farther no matter what I do. Any ideas? Edit: Damn my luck, as soon as I post that, it decides to detect that the phone was restarted on the 20th try. But now it's stuck sitting there saying 'during the upgrade process do not disconnect or power off the device', but it's still waiting for the reboot apparently. Edit edit: Eh it finally decided to work. Woo Edited July 17, 2009 by Pwntastic
Guest Aximtreo Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 Didn't the original instructions when you downloaded the exe file say that it would not work on 64 bit machines. I thought I saw that somewhere as I really read the posting and downloaded the Vista version. Sorry for the sarcasm, I don't understand trying to do something that might fry your phone.

It worked perfectly well for me on Windows 7 64-bit. If everyone followed instructions and obeyed the "rules", would we have 6.5 roms?
Guest thejaff Posted July 17, 2009 Report Posted July 17, 2009 (edited) Has anyone gotten it to work on Vista 64 bit? I don't have a Windos Vista (Service pack 2) option, only a Windows XP (service pack 2). When I try that I get an error saying I don't have ActiveSync 4.5. Edited July 17, 2009 by thejaff

Honestly I didn't mind if I bricked one of the phones. So I figured I would be a guinea pig and try. Just because I did does not mean that you must try. I only did it for us FA's that run Windows 7 64 Bit.

Guest boolieman Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Okay i myself am running on Windows 7 64 bit RC1 build 7100 and not having to use any compatibility or anything to flash my phone and i dont even have umdl on my main hard drive, its on an external which is constantly connected mind you to my pc. I have probally flashed my phone like 6 times on windows 7 64 both beta and rc1 and never had to set anything, the umdl just well... worked.
Guest ATSsupport Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I had issues with windows 7 64bit, but it was the fact that window mobile device center wouldn't recognize my Omnia, and that prevented me from doing the update. So I went into device manage and saw the phone but there were no drivers installed, so I went into the properties and did an update using the "online" option, and it downloaded the needed driver and I was set. mobile device center installed and once that happened the update went through with no problem
