Texts msg and mms error/lag/not responding

It doesn't happen all the time, but sometimes, when I view a text and close it, my phone becomes very non-responsive, and it takes it a long time (a minute) or so, to be come responsive again. I've been flashing my rom with different cooked roms, and the same issue happens whenever I upgrade to a 6.5 rom. I've tried M2D, SPB, and CHome, any suggestions? Thanks!
