Guest Chimp Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I am using BW's release 10... which of course required me to install the old beta CC20 first. Do I still need to install CF03 before I install this new ROM? Chimp
Guest yojoe600 Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 you only need the CF03 room flashed if you are gona use a CF03 cooked rom
Guest acoustics86 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 a tad confused here...i have the standard verizon rom on my phone without the update. i want to flash to bgill's CF03 rom. so do i need to install the verizon update CF03 rom then the leaked CC20 rom and then im good to flash bgill's? or am i good if i just flash the CC20 rom like usual and than flash any cooked rom, including CF03 cooked roms? thanks guys, just taking every precaution
Guest necosino Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 CC20 ROMS = Verizon's leaked CC20 .img CF03 ROMS = Verizon's official CF03 .img Not really a whole lot to figure out there, chief ;) Sarcasm aside, flash the CF03 ROM .img, then flash bgill's CF03 ROM .bin
Guest acoustics86 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 thats what someone did and they bricked and it just scared me so i thought id ask... they flashed the official CF03 rom and it went fine then they bricked their phone when they tried installing bgill's CF03 rom
Guest boolieman Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Well bricking can happen for lots of reasons, but find the omnia to be pretty simple to flash compared to other phones cause you dont have to worry about flashing radios like htc phones that ive seen. Ive flashed many times including cfo3 roms and cc20 and never bricked and im on windows 7 64 bit but just set everything to run in compatibility mode to just be safe. To be the safest though just do it on an xp machine.
Guest necosino Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 The chances of it actually bricking are 1 in a hundred thousand. When you flash a custom ROM, you are only flashing the PDA section. It's like reinstalling Windows. The install might fail, but in that case, you just start the installation over, you don't ruin your entire computer. When you flash the actual CF03 ROM (.img), you're writing all the firmware for the hardware itself, and that's where things can go wrong. if flashing a custom ROM fails, just restart the flash procedure, it will work, I can basically guarantee it.
Guest Chadnan Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 quick question => IF i already updated via VZW to CF03 BUT i were to flash to a custom cooked 6.5 rom based off of CC20, would i need to re-update to CF03? -I don't think so, i think i'd still be good to just flash other CF02 roms cuz i'm just flashing the pda portion of my device and not the actual phone part, but i dunno for sure. So, if anyone DID now the deal with that ... i'm just curious. Thanks!
