Guest somedude Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 (edited) I really like garmin mobile xt the best out of all the gps navigation programs. But, whenever i initially start up the program, and attempt to navigate somewhere, it takes forever to "download route navigation"/"calculate route". (Around 4 -7 minutes) And this is in clear skies, with EV-DO access. I also use IGO-8, and that is able to calculate the route instantly. I prefer to use Garmin, because of the "Local Search" which uses their online service and provides more up to date poi's/businesses than IGO-8... Anyone have this problem? I also have my garmin maps in the "storage card". Maybe i should move it to "my storage"? Edited July 19, 2009 by somedude
Guest rmac Posted July 19, 2009 Report Posted July 19, 2009 I typically use Garmin Mobile XT myself for navigation. I recently installed the CF03 update, then reflashed with Blazingwolfs Rock And Republic designed for the 02 update. I'm going to wait out flashing to the newest CF03 ROMs. I've always had Garmin installed in My Storage, not on a Storage Card, never had any problems calculating routes for more than 15-20 seconds, even with a 3-4 bar GPS lock on their software. Try moving it to My Storage. With the map pack and all it's a little over 1gb but its worth the real estate if it works.
Guest fzrrich Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 How did you get garmin to work in the first place? I installed all software on the pc and storage card. but when I start garmin xt it starts scanning bluetooth...so since its an internal gps I turn that off but it says that there is no gps active...don't see any bars or where they might be...don't know where to go from here. I would love to have it up and running...I also tried installing the free trial version of gps gate. Any help would be appreciated. Also under settings what do I set Datum to ???

Same exact experience I had when I had it installed. I wondered if maybe I had wrong map ID for what maps I was using.
Guest JustinJT Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 I just ordered the Garmin XT for my i910. I am not sure how to transfer the info from their card to the phone. I saw a post where someone said you have to change something after the info is transferred to work. Any ideas?
Guest Shemmy Posted July 26, 2009 Report Posted July 26, 2009 I have Garmin XT installed to a 4GB microSD card and haven't experienced any issues. In fact, the only time I've had problems with GPS software was when I tried nDrive (instaleld to "My Storage") - it really bogged my Omnia down something fierce. I don't split up the Garmin files - I keep them all in the same location. Try that and see if it works.

Depending on where you are going you would download the map and use once you're there. I have a i900 and live in the Bahamas but travel to Florida a lot. I downloaded the map of south Florida from the 2009 maps and Garmin XT worked perfect showing details and calculating routes, etc.
