Guest thetwiztidfreak Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 The other day i saw some guy scan a barcode on a dvd at walmart with his phones camera and it then searched the internet for him and gave him a listing of the cheapest places online to buy it. Was wondering if any one knows what app this would be. for some stupid reason i didnt thing to ask what it was called assumed it would be easy to find but have not had any luck finding such a program.

Guest jmoore4294 Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 I've tried a few different programs from over on the ppcwarez forums, with no luck. As stated above, I don't believe our camera can do this. Albeit a good camera.
Guest ardvarkofdoom Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 Actually, I'm 99% sure our camera can do this.... The problem is lack of compatible software.
Guest thetwiztidfreak Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 hmmm it was a G1 the guy had but dont really understand why the 3.5 megapixels camera can do it and our 5 cant. Hopefully some one will write a windows mobile apps for us ;)
Guest unlazyfree Posted July 20, 2009 Report Posted July 20, 2009 (edited) Barcorama is what I use on the Omnia, works great! You take a pic of the barcode within the program and it takes the UPC# and searches google and finds matches Edited July 20, 2009 by unlazyfree
Guest StarVision Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 My MotoE6 can...and it was a default software...why WM cannot...

Are you referring to the 2D barcode? I came across some apps that runs (but not smoothly due to 240 x 400). Regards,
Guest necosino Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 BarcoRama is great for reading UPC numbers on product barcodes. it then does a google search based on the number, giving a listing of places you can buy, and more information about the product.
Guest mimosoft Posted July 21, 2009 Report Posted July 21, 2009 In know a program named barcoo. But its only available for iphone 3gs, android, bb storm, symbian. but not for winmo. http://www.barcoo.de/ Its a german site. it looks up the barcodes in their database. cheapest price, ingredients, etc.
Guest hearseguy1985 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 i couldnt get barcorama to work on my omnia?
Guest gorf1000 Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I got Barcorama to work on my Omnia with a few caveats. First, you need to hold the phone in landscape since the barcode needs to be vertical in the image, unless of course if the barcode is on its side. Also, the program will not auto-return after taking a picture, you have to take the picture, hit okay, then change method to load a picture and navigate to where the camera saved the picture.
Guest necosino Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 I just open Barcorama, select read barcode, and shoot. Then just hold the camera like you normally would, take the picture, select the send file option, and it will go back to barcorama, and it will do its thing ;)

I thought about hitting send and for some reason never tried it. Now it's returning me to the app but saying No Capture.
Guest Draconius Posted July 22, 2009 Report Posted July 22, 2009 Installed...hit start, took picture of barcoade, hit send, it went back to barcorama and it says No capture...wtf?!?!
Guest Keri1983 Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 I had a lot of trouble with barcorama! I tried many times at home on random barcodes on household items with no luck. I did get it to work once, when I actually tried it in the store. I thought maybe it had to do with the fluorescent lights or something!
Guest Tim-H Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 it could be the focal length. Try different distances from the barcodes.
Guest jhitesma Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Barcorama works. But seems to be VERY picky about the lighting and size of the barcode. It usually takes me 3-4 tries to get a usable image. I'm not sure if this is a general issue with traditional 2D barcodes or a specific problem with the decoding algorithm on barcorama or maybe an issue with bardocrama just not liking the images from our cameras. When it works it's pretty nice. Though in practice I find it's utility somewhat limited. It did come in handy a few weeks ago shopping for a new hard drive though when I wanted more details than the box gave about the unit. Barcorama search of the code got me the info I was looking for.
Guest vermillionman Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Quickmark is the best one for 2D Is there one that works for 1D on an Omnia??

Guest dbsimms63 Posted November 7, 2009 Report Posted November 7, 2009 Barcorama is what I use on the Omnia, works great! You take a pic of the barcode within the program and it takes the UPC# and searches google and finds matches Yep, got it to work on my i910 too. The problem I think most are having, is that we have pics go to our storage cards, and this program is looking in the wrong file. If you hit start, it goes to the camera, take your pic, and hit the send, it will say no capture, but hit open, and the up key, you will see you can look for the files where you have your camera place the pics, open it, click the image, it will say do you want to start the app, say yes, and it will search on Google. Does anyone know of a way to change the settings in Barcorama to go to the correct file automatically? If so, the program will work like it is suppose to. It is cool though. I hope this brief tutorial helps.
