hey all,

I've been on windows mobile for about 5 months now and have played with all the different ROM's you can get as i like to have the best.. I have an omnia i900. I have used predominantly Sectors and Khunanchai's roms and love different aspects of each. However I moved recently back to my Nokia N95 as that was what i had upgraded. There are a lot of shortfalls with the N95 that the omnia does seemlessly, however the important stuff, like playing music and music quality on the N95 is just awesome. its loud and sounds fantastic. The media keys make is so easy to switch between songs from any screen. The video player plays movies without a glitch, stutter or jump, where as the omnia often crashes and the movie player isn't loud enough anyway..

Call quality is just what it should be on the nokia, however nokia have been in the market a long time now so its expected. I had problems with the speaker phone on the omnia which i'm getting looked at before i totally give up on it, however many people complain about the quality and i have to agree, its just not as good.. maybe i've done too many firmware updates? i don't know.. We'll see once it comes back from a warranty repair.

Can anyone tempt me back? I know the omnia is far 'cooler' and does a whole lot more for example i can't download from a website and then browse another site at the same time on the N95 as it crashes one of the apps.. Oh oh oh.. that's another thing.. I thought browsing was supposed to be fast and close to or on par to the Iphone on the omnia, but i am constantly waiting for pages to load.. whereas on the N95 pages load up very fast and i have no probs with any site.. Maybe its a setting? I've tried different browsers..

First of all, you should've posted this in the general section, since it's not about roms.

Now, about the media problem. I too got used to switching music by pressing hardware keys on my Sony Ericssons and I totally missed that function on the Omnia. The quality of music over the headphones is also quite bad (total lack of bass on hugher volumes), but it has nothing to do with the phone. Since I listen to music on almost a daily basis (especially while riding my bicycle), these shortcomings would have been a dealbreaker for me, but luckily, CorePlayer (and maybe even the free TCPMP, but I'm not 100% sure on this) solves virtually all problems. Firstly, it has a great equalizer which you can customize by yourself so music sounds way better on the shitty headphones (btw, try changing those silicon pads, it can make a difference) and secondly, you can assign functions to all the hardware buttons (Tools -> Hotkeys). I personally have the call and end to previous/next track, the menu button for play/pause and the camera button for blanking the screen. It also plays videos flawlessly, everything except On2VP6 (high quality FLV). Sure, the program costs a lot, but if you don't want to pay for it, google for the "free" solution.

And for the call quality, I never had any issues with it, I actually sometimes find it too loud ;)

And if you haven't done that already, try out Opera 9.7b1, it's actually quite good, but if you want instant page loading, opera mini is the way to go.

thank u 4 the response. I really appreciate it. On the N95, (i appreciate its different..) any page loads within a few seconds yet whatever i use on the omnia, whether it be opera (i was using the latest beta) or ie took ages.. i'd sit there and wait.. have u tested the speaker phone when on a call? it may just be my handset which i'm hoping will be fixed .. taking it in this morning.
