Turning the screen off stops MP from playing music

Forgive me if I am being really vacant again, but I am a bit vexed by this. When playing music in Media Player I obviously want to turn the screen off when I put it in my pocket. However, when I hit the power button the music stops. I have to wait until the screen times out before it switches off. This behaviour doesn't seem right. Please feel free to tell me the obvious thing I've missed:)

Cheers,

David.

This is a 'feature' of old in WMP and Windows Mobile! The power switch is always just that- it puts the device into standby so all running processes are suspended apart from system processes.

WMP has a setting in Options/Buttons to assign one of the buttons to 'Toggle Screen' . I'm not sure however if this will work on the TG01 due to its lack of physical buttons.

I should be getting mine on Thursday so will play around then!

Cheers!

Odd, this didn't happen when I hit the power key on my Touch Diamond or Xperia X1.

I knew of this trick from my first Pocket PC device, but you'll be pleased to hear I was being incredibly vacant. I didn't scroll the 'options' tabs far enough to see the 'buttons' one and so thought it had been removed from the latest version.

I've assigned the screen key to the camera button, which works to turn the screen off. When I try and turn the screen back on using this button it just flashes, but you can use the power key to wake it up.

OK, there are some problems, but this is a super phone. Gadget-tastic. I loved my Xperia X1, but this is a far better device.

Oh well- glad its working! Interesting about your Diamond, because on mine (and on my X7510) the power button still turns the whole thing off even with media playing ;)

Sounds a bit odd too.

I don't have this problem - granted I use the SPB mobile shell - which has a music widget on the home screen - much like the HTC devices. The music plays find - screen off or on.

Maybe it's worth searching for htc audio manager or similar music widget. Maybe even Pocket Music or simialr music player....or go purchase the spb mobile shell 3 - which is seriously the best interface ever on par easily with the iphone or android.

And yes this phone is a serious power horse - I have yet to run into any lag. I surfed the web via Skyfire on WIFI while having WMP pump out tunes over bluetooth and experience no issues whatsover. Plus the pages load fast!

Battery didn't like that but can't have everything.

Hi all,

Well I've set CorePlayer as the default for my Muisc, Videos and Pictures and it still plays the Muisc after locking the screen, another thing i discovered was that instead of having to hold the power for quite a long time for it to wake up f you press and release the button twice it wakes up much faster.
