Guest Compuse Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Everybody should know by now Franson's gpsgate would work, .. tho everybody wants the free solution instead of resetting your device each and every 30 days! :)
Guest jonboyuk Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 With respect, this is *so* old now! It's the recognised way of getting TomTom or similar to work on the Omnia. PortSplitter is free and it does the same thing!

PortSplitter is free and it does the same thing! It's time to say good bye to omnia mates. I am really fed-up with its poor gps issue and in that sence omnia is a crap!! I wanted to avoid portable navigator. Because I hate assemble and dismentle works of portable navigator at begining and at end of every journey. So I went with omnia almost one year ago; few days time I found out this was a crap but too late to reverse!! :) can't help! I wait with it to find a solution through a improved/better rom. But it din't and I doubt it wont as it's coming to end of omnia (i900) era. But I wonder why this manufature can't fix this issue. For me it's like software issue. Cutomer service wise samsung is better, which personally well known but not case improving/encoutering this omnia gps issue!! J.

Make sure you go to settings - personal - phone - services - gps - location ON, and do a soft reset. Then what I would do is download BAF GPS Toggle, it's a today plugin that allows you to turn on your GPS. Turn it on, and will start seeking satellites, then go outside and wait 10-20 minutes and see if GPS Toggle says seeking: #, or Locked: #. If it says locked, your GPS is locked and you should be able to use Google Maps, livesearch, w/e. If it keeps saying seeking: #, then you may not be able to get a lock where you are, or if it says seeking: 0, either the gps isn't on (do another soft reset) or your reception area is REALLY bad, lol..
