Guest Nhialor Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 When I open up either Skyfire browser or Facebook application, they both say that I am not connected to the internet, although all my settings are right and all other applications are able to use my wifi. Any ideas why?
Guest necosino Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 In SkyFire are you able to access other webpages?
Guest Nhialor Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 no no no, The Skyfire browser and the Facebook app. 2 different applications. Not facebook in Skyfire. I can't open Skyfire at all...it goes to the loading screen and says something about not being fast enough or something, I think it's trying to connect through my WAP.
Guest necosino Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 So you are trying to connect via the phone's connection, not WiFi, correct? I would turn off wifi completely, and then try, ensuring that they are connecting through the phone's data connection, rather than through your WAP.
Guest Nhialor Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 No, I am trying to connect via wifi, but it's not working. I think it is trying to connect through the phone's data connection. All other applications can connect through the wifi, it's just these 2. Thanks for the help guys.
Guest necosino Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 (edited) Ah, that's your problem. Some programs cannot, for some reason, connect via WiFi. SkyFire is relatively new, so that may be the case, same with facebook since FB was designed for "normal" phone sans wifi. Apparently this was a problem with SF in earlier versions, but has been fixed. Try updating to the latest version via download from its website. Edited July 23, 2009 by necosino
Guest Nhialor Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 But that's the thing. When I updated the firmware of the Omnia to this new firmware, a LITE version, I retained my cabs...those 2 worked perfectly before, but not now?
Guest scoiattolo Posted July 23, 2009 Report Posted July 23, 2009 Both Skyfire and Facebook latest versions work perfectly via WiFi. If available they use WifI automaticaly. The problem is in your wifi connection, not in the two programs BTW Facebook works perfectly also via wap (proxy) connection with my provider (Vodafone) Skyfire doesn't.
Guest Nhialor Posted July 24, 2009 Report Posted July 24, 2009 When I go into Facebook, it says connecting, I put in my address and password. Then it says retrieving user id...then it says check you are connected to the internet. blah blah blah! :-(
Guest Unisoldrew Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Just installed Skyfire and same as above, it tries to connect (while Wifi on) but then just closes. Whilst wifi still on, I have then tried Opera which works fine. Any ideas folks?
Guest Nhialor Posted July 25, 2009 Report Posted July 25, 2009 Mine complains about the connection not being strong enough, saying it requires more than UPNP...I think that's what it's called!
