Did anyone already hear or see something about the technolgy called "augmented reality" you'll prabably think...wtf... Well "it's the combination of real-world and computer-generated data (virtual reality), where computer graphics objects are blended into real footage in real time".

See the link and pics below http://www.mobile-augmented-reality.com/ and http://www.t-immersion.com/

Now I was thinking of anyone saw something like this already on our Omnia's? this would be really cool, I couldn't find much about it but the technolgy is pretty new still...

I guess that the Terminator already used this technology years ago in the future :)

It's a pretty interesting development. Some applications are already operational on Android, check http://layar.eu/ .

Some semi-interesting demo applications by Imagination, already working on the Omnia:

AR Zoo

MobileAR

Be sure to set the Video Settings to 'Flip Vertically' and Rotate video to 90 degrees, otherwise it won't work. :)

its out for smartphones already,

and iphone apps in development. Theres loads of university research groups working on it with demos so it wont be long before its mainstream, just look at the sponsors of Layar!

The app doesn't get to that point, all it does is displays a title bar.

To everyone having problems starting: perhaps try installing NetCF 3.5 from this thread? I tried this on both WM 6.5 and WM 6.1 (various ROMs, can't remember which), and it worked fine. *edit* Oh, too bad this wasn't the problem then... ;)

Once you have the application running, try pointing the Omnia camera at the test markers' pdfs that are mentioned on those respective pages. It should work better when you have them printed, but I tested it on my laptop's LCD and it worked fine. Note that the pdfs should probably be displayed at 100% size, as otherwise the pattern won't get recognized... :)

I have 3.5, and perhaps even 3.7 if that possible?

Its been a while after the last news, think that maybe it will never be released =/

Those test apps both work great for me. Obviously you have to be pointing the camera at the image on the .pdf doc to see the animals/warrior dude.
