Hi all,

Firstly, I have to say this forum is the best i900 forum ever. You guys rocks !

I can't resist the temptation of wm6.5 roms, I would like to flash my phone to one of the 6.5 roms

However, I have been looking around and there is no suggestions as in how to flash a rom from my version of phone (Australian, Carriers is Yes Optus):

PDA:i900DFHL1/DFHL1

PHONE:I900XXHL1

Any friends here have done this before? Can you guys give the steps how you did it. no need to be very detail. but I just need to know from my phone, can I flash straight to any of 6.5 roms? Or, I have to flash to one pariticular version of roms first and flash to the one I want ?

Thx guys for your help.

its not rockey science.. download a rom, run it and reboot your phone, then activate the rom.. There are many 'howtos' around if u do a search.. i'm on 3 here in Oz and have been on custom roms since day 1 of having my omnia.. 6.5 is fantastic, no more the speed issues.. i recommend khunanchai's roms for speed and useability and sectors for overall effects and beauty..

thanks nixxss,

I will definitely try khunanchai's ROM.

Just another question. How do I backup my original rom before flashing, just in case I want to fall back to original for warranty purpose (can I still have warranty if I fall it back?).

Hi fellow Aussie, I flash my phone which was an optus software loaded phone with other flashers and i sent my phone off when i

Smashed the camera on it and they flashed it back to theeir default samsung au version with no issues. And i just keep flashing with new flashers once a week.

So what i would i flash as much as u like. Try some new roms. I found Sectors 230001 rom which is the new 6.5 to be the best one for me.

Ill find the updated Australian version rom which is ver 6.1 for u and post it here for ya. Just in case u dont like the newer experimental roms.

:)

my mic is too loud and i can't turn it down so when on speaker phone other callers can hear their voice echo.. i took it to 3 service centre and they returned it saying they couldn't look at it as i had flashed it.. think about that b4 u flash.. however having flashed nearly all Sectors roms and now khunanchais' i would have sold my omnia by now.. windows mobile shits me... so hard to use without a stylus.. winmo 6.5 is a lot easier..

thanks, mate. But have you tried to flash back to original version of ROM then sent it back to service centre? would it work?

thanks vermillionman, but is there a way to backup the rom in your phone before flash? I understand you have posted the link, but that doesn't seem to be the same version to the one in my phone. I think it will still avoid the warranty, right ?

thanks anyway for sharing.

i did.. flashed to dxia5 and they said it wasn't the rom they shipped the phones with and so i must have tampered with it.. When i said i had installed the newest rom from the samsung site, they told me i should then contact samsung for warranty.. and not them as my phone service provider.. sigh..

sorry oz, wrong button. sent mine back to samsung brisbane after bricking with an old QBUS rom and they replaced the motherboard and installed a rom that was 3 mnths ahead of anything here IX1 (with a smile and under warranty!) so i stayed with that rom until these caught up ..... hahahaha. think i was lucky maybe ...

ive also got a 3 branded omnia and would like to backup the existing rom for future use.

i tried to use lastnikita's dump tool, but that keeps crashing on me

also, even if it did work, it would spit me out with some raw files. how would i get it back on my phone?

Hi ignatiou-

IX1 = very strange rom id you have there.

I = year = 2009

X = month = ??? (it has been for other roms A-L to equal 1-12 and/or Jan-Dec)

1 = first release that month.

Can you post your five character rom id found in \settings\system\version. Should be like i900xxxxn.

Thanks,

Ron...

Yes, month B would be Feb. Most cooks are now using DXID1 = April, as base.

i had the same problem and couldn't figure it out on Sectors roms.. they are really nice, but to use you have to give up on streaming vid from 3 site.. I had a problem with khunanchais roms too which i used 4 a while, but found that they are missing the streaming server app.. once u install this and put in the 3services connection u r flying.. u have to look for "MoDaCo_OmniaHH1StreamingPlayerFix_1_" it fixes it.. i moved back to original oz rom as i need to send to samsung for warranty.. i have an echo problem..
