Guest Webreaper Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 New to android so a few question How to get HTC Sync to see phone and sync outlook contacts, I've tried in vista and win 7 and no luck I'v setup Google Calendars and synced Outlook to that, can you do same with contacts? As you may have gathered, Outlook sync isn't supported out of the box. You need to sync between GMail contacts and outlook, and your Android phone will sync with your gmail contacts. You could have a look at this. http://jameslam.wordpress.com/2009/04/02/s...look-and-gmail/ There may be an HTC-specific way to do this on the Hero, I don't know as I have a Magic.
Guest Paul Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 On a Hero I was under the impression HTC Sync should 'just sync' seamlessly with Outlook! P
Guest Webreaper Posted August 4, 2009 Report Posted August 4, 2009 On a Hero I was under the impression HTC Sync should 'just sync' seamlessly with Outlook! That's exchange, not Outlook itself.
Guest Paul Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 HTC Sync isn't for Exchange, it's for desktop Outlook. P
Guest Mysterious Stranger Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 HTC Sync isn't for Exchange, it's for desktop Outlook. P But doesn't the magic have a HTC app that supports exchange anyway? http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/15/htc-mag...android-doesnt/ M.S
Guest Webreaper Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 But doesn't the magic have a HTC app that supports exchange anyway? Not out-of-the-box. It's coming though (Google are writing their own, rather than using HTC's implementation).
Guest Paul Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 There's a 'Work Email' app floating around you can use in the interim... P
Guest Mysterious Stranger Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Not out-of-the-box. It's coming though (Google are writing their own, rather than using HTC's implementation). HTC's implementation would do for now! Will have to find that Magic Asia rom and see what I can do ;-) M.S
Guest Paul Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 *cough* http://content.modaco.net/dropzone/Mail.apk :) P
Guest Webreaper Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Tried installing that, get "Work Email cannot be installed on this phone".
Guest Paul Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 Are you rooted? Shouldn't matter, but if you are, you could 'adb remount' then 'adb push mail.apl /system/app/mail.apk'... P
Guest Mysterious Stranger Posted August 6, 2009 Report Posted August 6, 2009 *cough* http://content.modaco.net/dropzone/Mail.apk :) P Why thankyou kind sir. Still haven't powered the hero up or opened the sim pack in case it has to go back...plus too busy playing with RTM windows 7. Anybody else replicated the checkdisk memory leak? M.S
