Guest ZinuNL Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 (edited) Hello, Since yesterday, accessing my phone through Activesync suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in the phone starts charging, but Activesync just starts Connecting... and then I get an error the phone couldn't be found. The day before it just worked fine and I can't think of anything I might have changed to cause this. I already tried turning Advanced network functionality off, but then it doesn't start Connecting... at all. Icon just remains grey. I also tried reinstalling Activesync, no luck either. Also tried connecting using Vista (WMDC), but that doesn't detect it either. I also tried a VMWare machine I always use to flash my Omnia, but there happens the same as I described above. If I set USB Mode to Mass Storage it detects fine, but ofcourse it will only let me access My Storage. Anyone had this too and can help me with this? It came totally out of the blue and don't know what caused it... :) Edited July 27, 2009 by ZinuNL
Guest necosino Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Did you install anything? Try pushing and holding the reset button (the little hole next to the power button) for 20-30 seconds, and then release, to see if it will detect after the phone comes back on. Also, just make sure that in activesync connection settings (on your computer) that the Allow USB connection is checked, and allow Bluetooth is unchecked, also uncheck the data connection, too.. Then give it a shot.
Guest ZinuNL Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 OK, I'll try... but what does holding it for 20-30 secs do? I hope not hard reset?
Guest necosino Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 No, it doesn't hard reset, no worries :)
Guest badtrip Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 I have ther same problem with my original ROM.. Do u have an bluetooth connection to your computer? U still have the opportunity to be connected via bluetooth. give it a try.. My one is working that way. unfortunately i couldnt fix the bug u mentioned.
Guest ZinuNL Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Check your firewall on your pc Check for what?
Guest necosino Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Some firewalls can block USB connections with some devices. Maybe just try disabling it all together for a minute?
Guest scubamike Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 (edited) Just go into Active sync on your phone and then go into "Options". Delete any partnerships that you see. It doesn't affect any data on your phone. You'll just need to set up a new active sync partnership. Also, go into device manager on your computer and then expand, I think, the network connections. You should see something relating to Windows Mobile. Delete that. Plug in your phone and you should be golden. Edited July 28, 2009 by scubamike

I couldn't find anything of that connection (I know what you're talking about). Turning off all firewalls didn't work either. EDIT: I just noticed that when I manually scan for Devices with Activesync, it does see USB is connected. It just doesn't see that it's the phone I guess... Edited July 28, 2009 by ZinuNL
Guest ZinuNL Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Right, I got it working, but not by modifying anything. Now, everytime I soft resetted my phone, I have to turn Advanced network functionality on and off again. Then I am able to sync (with it being off).
Guest badtrip Posted July 31, 2009 Report Posted July 31, 2009 Check your firewall on your pc My problem is not with my firewall. I can hear you ask how i know that. I know because i can connect device center via BT.. I can file transfer this way but tried to use mdesktop. Unfortunately it didint work. Maybe i got late for the registration i dont know :)
Guest valkryomnia Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) I have a similar problem. Nothing happens when I sync my phone, other than a USB box opening on my computer asking what to open the files on my phone with... like a Flash Drive.. This started after updating my phone with CF03. It synced the first hour, then randomly stopped. Please help, I cannot get my files back without resyncing. Update: After fiddling more, I hard reset, and it is now fixed. Edited August 5, 2009 by valkryomnia
Guest aar0n Posted August 5, 2009 Report Posted August 5, 2009 change the connection setting to `USB Default instead of just USB. you can find that in ActiveSync > Menu > Connections.
