Why do we have to change our Omnia with Omnia II

Can we just change the display with one with bigger rezolution.

I dont see much differences between Omnia and Omnia II.

I just need bigger rezolution.

There is T*Omnia with 800x480 screen.

Cant we just bye its display and replace it on our Omnias :)

if its such simple operation to just change screens,

then a lot of people @ samsung will lose their job..... ;) ;)

lol.. this post is so funny, I'm not even going to get into it..

The omnia II is a complete re-work of the Omnia. New processor, new screen (it is physically larger, thus it won't even fit in an Omnia), etc...

So no, you will have to actually get a new phone.. since that's what it is.. a new phone..

My Sons XBOX is crap so I'll put the guts of my PS3 in it... wot do you reckon?

venksta, dont take offence, we're not taking the p1ss but the phone is a different size with different hardware and different specs.

now the new Modu modular phone might be more appropriate!

I don fink so!

It seems that the Koreans didn’t enjoy the Samsung Omnia very much, so they thought it may need little improvement. So, they called it T*Omnia and decided to increase its dimensions to 115.2 x 58.1 x 13.65 mm and use a slightly bigger 3.3” display (the previous Omnia had 3.22” display).

If you have 0.04" to spare around the casing of your Omnia, you go right ahead.. The rest of us would rather NOT destroy our Omnias :)

First of all and physical size aside you need to port the drivers over to make the screen work in the first place and also the screen connections may be different?

Also the cost of obtaining a new screen would make this a costly exercise especially if it went wrong, touchscreens are not cheap even for older devices and makes up a large chunk of the initial device cost.

What he said. When I had to replace a screen on one of my phones (SE p910) the costs were just slightly lower than the retail price of the phone. And PDA's are not computers. You can't just change the screen or insert more RAM and a different processor. It would be nice but it's impossible and/or costly.
