Guest Connie Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 After installing the update for my phone, I couldn't get past the alignment screen. Verizon sent me a new screen and I am scared to try it again. Has anyone else had the same problem? Also, is it worth doing or does it really unlock the GPS?
Guest jonboyuk Posted July 29, 2009 Report Posted July 29, 2009 Sometimes it means you aren't pressing firmly or long enough on the alignment screen. The ROM update shouldn't have stopped you screen from functioning. Perhaps you should have re-run the update! It's definitely worth doing and the new official update does unlock the GPS AFAIK

I will definitely try it again. I really want the GPS unlocked.

I really want the GPS unlocked. I updated and didn't have any problems like that. The GPS works with satellites and also the aGPS works to get a close estimate of where you are using cell towers. It puts me within a few hundred feet of where I actually am usually without any real GPS. I also feel like it just sped up my phone a bit. My keyboard (Fingerkeyboard) used to get a little sluggish and it's been quick and crisp every use since I updated 2 or 3 days ago. And my screen rotation doesn't seem to hang like it used to and scrolling just feels a little smoother. The whole system just feels a little peppier. All in all, I'm really happy with the update so far. I have had the alignment screen be kinda screwy for me before also. I don't know why that happens. I've had to push a few times in the past pretty hard before it would register. I know it doesn't seem right. Sounds like you've tried though. Good luck.

Guest bishop4142 Posted August 2, 2009 Report Posted August 2, 2009 I had the same problem but my alignment was acting up before I was sent a new phone
Guest Connie Posted August 3, 2009 Report Posted August 3, 2009 I am going to try it today. I will let you know how it goes I finally got it to work! I had the same problem with the alignment screen, had my husband finally look at it and walla it worked. He must have the magic touch or something. The only problem I am having now is that I have to really tap hard on some of the programs. The GPS works great and that is what I really wanted. Thanks all!
