Please help want to create themes?¿?¿?

I want to create my own theme....

I am currently using the really cool smart os (osx surfer theme) on my phone.

I find a lot of skins don't have little things like date, schedules, etc etc on the screen so i want to do my own.

Also i want to create a os x looking skin but being able to change the background and the little 'dock' bit still there, can this be done?

Q) Can the theme contain a pic which layers over the backdrop?

Q) Can i design the theme in photoshop? and golive? on a mac?

Or do I have to crack open Virtual PC and do it all under windows?

Q) What software do i need? where do i get it?

Q) Any pointers or example code/images etc?

Q) What size does it have to be?

Q) Are there a FAQ/Guide/Howto anywhere so i can stop asking these dumb ass questions?

A million and one similar posts asked and answered and still people post the same questions. I can deal with that, but don't shout at us cause we don't reply promptly. Nobody HAS to answer, we're doing this in our spare time.

Try searching on creating home screens, that'll give you a place to start.
